To give up on driving if I fail this time.....

I have my cough 5th driving test on Tuesday. I failed the last 2 with no minors and one minor. I know I can drive. I can't pass a test. I've (half) decided that this will be my final test. The money I've spent on lessons and tests means I have nothing left to buy a car with. The irony. Should I give up knowing that failing 5 times means I am probably not cut out for driving? AIBU to give up? I'm 37 so no spring chicken. I've changed to auto and have one failed auto test.
P.S Just had the crappest drive ever with my brother in a manual which I kept stalling in and messed up reverse around corner 20 billion times and made him angry, he says I'm 2 years of lessons away from being test ready. Blush

Well done Robstersgirl , so pleased for you!

Wando1986 · 07/03/2017 11:42

OP you just drive. Forget that it's a test, imagine you're driving your mate to the supermarket.

hungryhippo90 · 07/03/2017 11:43

Can I also say, if you struggle with some manoeuvres you will pick them up.

When I did my test, I though yay! No more fucking reversing! Never again!

I now feel like I spend my life reversing, but you pick it up when you are either going to have to wait for a car park to empty so you can leave, or you need to reverse out. It all comes with confidence.

Wishing you lots of luck.

Wando1986 · 07/03/2017 11:43

Wooo just seen the update. Well done!!!

hungryhippo90 · 07/03/2017 11:44

Oh god! I missed the update!!!!! Congratulations!!!!! So exciting isn't it!

DJBaggySmalls · 07/03/2017 11:46

I can handle a car but cant think or react fast enough to drive in traffic, so quit.
If you can drive in traffic but its the test thats the problem, then what has your instructor done to address that? Would it help you to see a different instructor, one that focuses on teaching you to pass?

DJBaggySmalls · 07/03/2017 11:47

I just saw your update, congratulations Star

RedHelenB · 07/03/2017 11:50

YABU _ just think how rubbish some of these drivers are on reality tv shows and just stick with it! When I finally passed I had sort of resorted to thinking I was going to fail again but as a single mum I am so glad I passed!

FlipFlopFlappy · 07/03/2017 11:53

Yay Smile. Very happy for you.

MrsTrentReznor · 07/03/2017 14:36

FUCK YES!
Well done OP!!
Grin
Gin (You can have a squash though, seeing as you are driving... Wink )

NerrSnerr · 07/03/2017 14:37

I passed on number 7. I couldn't believe it when he actually told me I had passed afterwards. It was without a doubt worth it, and I love driving now. I passed 5 years ago and never had an accident.

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 07/03/2017 14:39

It's the nerves isn't it! Awful! I took my test four times when I was 17/18. Then I gave up Blush. My husband then booked me into an I tensive course when I was 26. Passed and never looked back. Take some Kalms and try to relax but don't give up. You'll be so pleased when you do pass. Good luck.

NerrSnerr · 07/03/2017 14:40

I'm another who didn't rtft! Well done OP :-)

IamFriedSpam · 07/03/2017 14:42

I ONLY WENT AND BLOODY PASSED!!!!!!

yaaaaaaay! Well done OP. Massive achievement. I can honestly say that passing my driving test is one of the things that made me most proud (way more than my degree, PhD etc.) because I had to work so bloody hard to do it!

miniatureegg · 07/03/2017 16:03

🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏾

I passed fifth time too. Took a ton of rescue remedy for what it's worth.

Well done!!!

MrsKoala · 07/03/2017 16:10

Well done OP. It feels bloody amazing to finally do it doesn't it. I cried and hugged my instructor (who a was a complete arsehole - so i must have been really overcome with joy).

Are you doing something to celebrate? Can you treat yourself to something?

AmberNectarine · 07/03/2017 16:12

Oh, well done!

I was going to say not to give up as I passed 6th time but no need!

mrscee · 07/03/2017 16:29

Don't give up, look at how far you've come. I passed on my 7th test and I thought that I'd never pass. Been driving 3 and a half years now I passed when I was 37 and it's the best thing I did. Don't throw all your hard work away!

mrscee · 07/03/2017 16:31
