so why were so many people taken in? I've had cars for years and would never get diesal for that reason.

Of course Volkswagen lied and lied (scum). I'm not into consumer boycotts normally but their decipt on this was disgusting, up there with BP oil spills.

I hope they get fined f* £ billions btw.

I thought of this thread last night, when I accidentally stumble across a programme discussing just this. Apparently Birmingham are looking into a plan of banning diesels from the City Centre. The report then went across to a German City where they had done this 2 years ago. All well and good, until they spoke to the people responsible for monitoring the change in Nitron Dioxide, and it was found, two years in, that there had been no drop at all!!! they said the 'fine particles' had dropped but the NO2 levels had remained steady.
