To ask what you do with your evenings if not watching telly?

... Or sorting out the house etc.

How do you fill your evenings when the day is done and you can't or don't want to watch TV?

I'm asking because dh has really got into his hobby lately and he spends a lot of his evenings completely absorbed in it.

I find myself drifting towards netflix and bbc iplayer more and more, it's just so easy (and good!). I'd like to do something more worthwhile sometimes though, so just wondering what you all do or how you feel about this!

Just to say, I do have hobbies but they tend to be daytime based (allotment and cooking). I like reading so sometimes to that. I used to have lots more hobbies (music, photography, rock climbing) but they've all slowly fizzled out as the kids came along.

So, what do you all do?

Have a bath, listen to podcasts, read!

Work - planning/marking - takes up most of the evening. I also check out MN & Facebook. I usually read before going to sleep. Dp is also a teacher so is also working.

I do quite fancy getting into amdram or horseriding. God knows when that'll be though.

Work sometimes, I also sing in a choir one night a week.
I do watch TV! usually series me and DP are working through, though I often knit while watching it, as I like to have "busy hands".

Watching with interest. I have just started piano lessons so am practising some evenings, but I do worry about waking the DC. I might try writing. I used to love that when younger. In the Summer I like just sitting out looking at the stars.

If no TV, then read or mess on the computer; looking at houses for sale, Reddit, MN, or looking up & reading about odd subjects that catch my interest (Mothman was my latest tangent). But if I had to do something 'creative', then I guess it would be cross stitch or some other type of needlework or looking up recipes to try out.

I sew - most of my own clothes now days & make stuff for the DC as well. I really enjoy it.

Taken up knitting again too recently. I'm a pretty rubbish knitter but I enjoy it while I watch tv - just basic stuff that, nothing too complicated.

at the moment I'm sewing about half of a "holiday" wardrobe for a 3 week holiday (leaving in 3 weeks).

Read, write, go online - sometimes proper research with a purpose, sometimes just browsing. In summer gardening or walk to a late opening supermarket, for the exercise - it's a nice walk.

Teach piano, faff about on the Internet, compose, go to band rehearsals.
