no, the chippy we go to is 3 miles away!it has awards and everything so i think i am justified in asking for chips from this specific chippy.

Budababe · 05/03/2007 05:48

No - but then I LOVE fish & chips!

Am that you can get F&C at all! None here in Budapest!

Mossie · 05/03/2007 05:49

Not at all! But if he really won't drive there, could you find a chippy that delivers? Then again I'm in a very chippy-rich area, so I'm spoilt! (Spoiled?)

meowmix · 05/03/2007 06:33

i'd call that rational behaviour tbh.

But then when I was pg the first time I made DH drive me around national trust type places in search of the perfect homemade chocolate cake and then after 4 hours driving around surrey and hampshire, when I found one that I deemed suitable (Paignton Park).... I didn't like it.

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 07:34

hey-ho.

Doesn't anyone driving round looking for indulgent food consider the consequences on the planet??

do dislike to be party-pooper but still surprised at the disregard for the environment - adore fish and chips but doesn't driving for miles suggest a, well, sort of narrow-minded selfishness??

BandofMothers · 05/03/2007 07:50

I knew people in the States who thought nothing of driving for over an hour to a good restaurant, but then it's a lot bigger over there. Most of my friends lived over 20-30 mins away.
Plus if you're craving then I think it's fine. Some cravings you just can't ignore. With dd1 I ate so much cold custard!!!! Luckily I could buy that anywhere.

themaskedposter · 05/03/2007 07:53

perfectly reasonable imo

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 07:59

no consideration for our planet? At all??

or do we just ignore the question (and questioner!)

BandofMothers · 05/03/2007 08:01

Did you not get cravings manfrom ...? Or are you, in fact a man??

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 08:04

yeah sure I get cravings. Usually for garlic bread.

doesn't mean I have a right to mess up the environment to indulge a craving, though, does it?? just surprised at the impunity to the whole matter, that's all.

Kelly1978 · 05/03/2007 08:04

Nope, but then I've driven 10 miles for the perfect kebab.

BandofMothers · 05/03/2007 08:07

Obviously it's not good for the environment, but I think it's like screaming into the wind don't you. Don't think getting chips is as bad as driving kids a mile to school in a great big gas guzzler, then picking them up in it too. But don't really want to get into THAT arguement!!!

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 08:10

no neither do I! and am NOT an eco-warrior by any means....

but no-one seemed in the least concerned by "consequences of actions" that we talk to our children about.

offski to work. Have a nice day.

HeyBert · 05/03/2007 08:12

once a week when you're pg is perfectly reasonable imho

Budababe · 05/03/2007 08:12

Hi Pann - am sure most of us to our bit for the planet but are you really really really brave enough to come between a pregnant, hormonal woman and her craving for the perfect fish & chips???? Are you REALLY??

Scootergirl · 05/03/2007 08:13

Perhaps diva could buy her DH a bike for the chippy run? Then everything would be ok... wouldn't it?
Cravings are funny things and should definitely be indulged IMO.

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 08:16

yes, I think I am!!

hormones schmormones I'm afraid when it comes to being considerate about where/how we live. There IS something more important involved..

but am NOT eco-warrior!! just drawing attention to something not being previously considered, tbh.

right, really am offski to work!!

themanfromiPannema · 05/03/2007 08:17

Scooter - would like to indulge my desire for a better planet, rather than someone's 'cravings' tbh

RIGHT . OFF TO WORK!!!!

divamumplus · 05/03/2007 09:34

its not the FISH, i just cant get enough chips with vinegar. although im stricting it once a week. sometimes when i go down town centre to go bank i always pass chippy, which makes me crave soooo much. i have never been chippy person, i probably had fish and chips 2-3 times a year. last couple of weeks its in my mind, how bizzare

ah pann, it's ok if you have an electric car...

warthog · 05/03/2007 09:57

powered by a wind turbine...

themaskedposter · 05/03/2007 12:06

I flew to NZ for perfect fish and chips .. blardy lovely they were too ...

oh and while I was there I popped in to see mum and dad too

meowmix · 05/03/2007 13:56

to quote: "hormones schmormones I'm afraid when it comes to being considerate about where/how we live. There IS something more important involved.."

  1. parp
  2. should we also worry about consumption of unhealthy food and likely impact on strained NHS resources in the future...
  3. not to mention cod stocks and overfishing and all that
  4. and you know if she eats a LOT of cod then there's a chance that the cod wars could start up again in reaction to increased demand from one woman
  5. not to mention that she might use a plastic fork from the chippy rather than a wooden recyclable or a metal washable one
  6. and I do hope she checks that its fairtrade vinegar

But mainly PARP.

divamumplus · 05/03/2007 14:02

lol, did you see cods post, poor fishy, i bet i broke her ehart earthy friendly panny manny, how about running dhs car in chippy oil?
btw, im not vegeterian, and i dont often eat fish.
