To have a complete fucking meltdown over pancake day

Frillyhorseyknickers · 28/02/2017 20:15

I'm almost convinced I am being unreasonable but you know what - fuck it.

It's pancake day, I love pancake day - all the pancakes and fat, happy fillings. We ALWAYS do pancake day, ever since I was a littlie- pancake day is a thing in this household.

So I got up at fuck knows what time, rode my horses in the semi darkness, chewed on my semi cardboard Alpen light on the 07.07 to Kings Cross, but uplifted because... pancakes.

There were lots of pancakes in my lunch meeting which I avoided because "we always have pancakes in an evening" so opted for the starting-to-curl-dry cheese sandwiches and called in at the shop en route home for pancake fillings.

Where is my DH? He's in bed. Not arsed about pancakes, he had a chicken Kiev earlier. He doesn't see the issue - have a pancake by yourself if you like - what a little pity party pancake for one? Really?

I know I'm unreasonable and a chicken Kiev is more filling 🙄 I'm 11 weeks pregnant and I have a LOT of feelings this week. Pancake pity party at mine, anyone 🎉

Have the pancakes. They're obviously medicinal.

Penfold007 · 28/02/2017 21:03

DH tried the 'I'm not fussed about pancakes' this evening. Once my two frying pan production line had swung in to action guess who at first in the queue. OP make your pancakes and enjoy them.

Ohhhh so annoying! It's a day to celebrate - make them op - put the radio on and squeeze that lemon juice -

HakeLively · 28/02/2017 21:07

OP- I'm your DH. I'm at work late and dreaming of a nightcap of brandy on ice in front of the telly before an early night.. could well do without any pancake-based hassle... and DP has just sent me this with the message:

SO EXCITED FOR PANCAKES !!

😂😂

Ah, well thanks to the encouragement I've just had a full on, starter-main-dessert pancake pity party for me and bean and I'm not actually a whiney bitch anymore. I had a cheese and marmite one 😬 a cheese, ham, salsa and soured cream one 😬😬 and then one small pancake smothered in four litres of golden syrup 😬😬😬

My DH isn't usually such a fun sponge - he's a farmer and got up even earlier than me 🙄

There's still some batter left and I'm wondering if reeses chocolate spread and longley farm yoghurt go together..?

Hake

Is that . . . . is that . . . . MAPLE SYRUP?

Astro55 · 28/02/2017 21:10

Same way as tune cheese and crisps were perfect

HappyFlappy · 28/02/2017 21:11

Go for it Frilly

HakeLively · 28/02/2017 21:13

Yes Happy I believe it is! He has actually gone out and and bought all of these pancake accompaniments as we did not have them in our cupboards this morning.

sits on hands to point out this contradicts whole point of using up ingredients for pancakes day lest I be a spoilsport

Penfold007 · 28/02/2017 21:13

Go Frilly enjoy

TheresABluebirdOnMyShoulder · 28/02/2017 21:15

what a little pity party pancake for one? Really?

😂😂😂😂

Arrietty you need to have a serious look at yourself. That's a disgrace. Fucking rocket salad indeed.

Clandestino · 28/02/2017 21:17

I was making pancakes while DH and DD hovered over me like two starving vultures. I even made French toasts so they don't kill each other while waiting for the dough to be ready. It was cinnamon sugar, Nutella and proper chocolate syrup, not the Hershey's abomination. Go ahead ( and tomorrow too). Baby wants it.

dalmatianmad · 28/02/2017 21:21

Sympathy for getting up at the crack
of dawn to sort the horse...

Don't worry about your dh, you enjoy your pancakes and have double for the bambino Wink

paxillin · 28/02/2017 21:22

Make him a cold pancake sandwich tomorrow from the ones he didn't eat. Draw sad Nutella faces with blueberry eyes on.

youarenotkiddingme · 28/02/2017 21:23

No have a pity party!

I've also been looking forward to pancakes all day.

When we got home Ds friend (our neighbour) was outside dripping wet (it's was bloody hailing and he was in shorts!) saying his parents weren't in. His phone was dead. I said they may be in traffic or had to go out in emergency and obviously couldn't call him. So invited him in and called his parents from my phone. They had indeed been trying to get hold of him!

Apparently my pancakes are the bees knees. I'm glad he enjoyed my share of them Hmm Grin

HSMMaCM · 28/02/2017 21:24

Hake - tell him you are looking forward to pancakes too and could he just leave yours in the fridge to have when you get home, or for breakfast.

HappyFlappy · 28/02/2017 21:24

not the Hershey's abomination

Thank Christ for that,

Hershey's is so foul even the dog won't eat it!

HappyFlappy · 28/02/2017 21:25

Im trying really hard but I simply can't think of anything reeses chocolate spread shouldn't go with. It should be a main component in all meals.

OhBeggerItsMorning · 28/02/2017 21:25

Glad you had some pancakes op!

Next time come to us, I made 39 pancakes this evening (between 6 of us), so doing a few extras for visitors wouldn't have made any difference to me (I only had 2). So next year, if you're in the south west come and join us.

HappyFlappy · 28/02/2017 21:25

(our neighbour) was outside dripping wet (it's was bloody hailing and he was in shorts!)

Is he a Geordie kidding?

ChasedByBees · 28/02/2017 21:28

Isn't chocolate poisonous for dogs?

moonchild77 · 28/02/2017 21:28

I started slimming world yesterday so no pancakes for me.
Not gonna bother having them shit SlimmingWorld oat ones, pancakes should be flour, egg and milk.
I made a load for my dc and I ate fruit kebabs. Meh!

Hope you enjoyed yours op.
