To think I am a great mother?

I'm into my third hour of standing in a field in blazing hot sun watching DD watch a dog fancy dress show. It's awful. Where do I pick up my Mothering Medal?

I wanted to post something positive as the last two days all I've posted is misery. How great are you being recently?

I have simultaneously cooked a roast lunch and made a post box and 'doors' for my dc to post letters through while DH snoozes on the sofa.

This is my only great thing I have planned for the next fortnight as normally I'm crap!

daisygirlmac · 26/02/2017 12:23

Gold stars and wine for all! Hurrah for us!

user1471467016 · 26/02/2017 12:23

Me, we've all survived (and had a great), Half term.

ElspethFlashman · 26/02/2017 12:25

I cut my son's toenails this morning without having to abandon it in raging despair after three toes. I was pleasantly firm and he let me do them all.

I feel like a superhero!!! Grin

atheistmantis · 26/02/2017 12:28

I got up to take my DS to work despite having not had any sleep last night.
Mother of the century, where's my medal?

drummersmum · 26/02/2017 12:29

I pressed three orange juices this morning, made coffee, put two washings and a drier, ironed DS school shirts, worked in my freelance job for an hour and I'm about to give DS a one hour lesson for his IGCSE Spanish which he's taking early and can't fit in his school timetable.

Hoppinggreen · 26/02/2017 12:31

Well done all of us
I am making a world book day costume while making a roast dinner and dealing with a dog with infected bollocks.
I'm a bloody hero!

MiddleClassProblem · 26/02/2017 12:32

atheist how old is your son? Poor sleep deprived child now forced to work. We have laws you know Grin

atheistmantis · 26/02/2017 12:32

drummersmum you are showing us all up now! Can't I just be a mediocre average Mum without you showing off about how much better you are?? Grin

I'm collecting him from work too, and I've done four loads of laundry and tidied DC2's bedroom so there! Wink

atheistmantis · 26/02/2017 12:33

MCP he's 18. Yeah, he's working. Maybe I'll take a deduction for the taxi service there and back Grin

drummersmum · 26/02/2017 12:34

Ha ha. I thought that's what this thread was about Grin A medal for you atheist.

atheistmantis · 26/02/2017 12:35

Right back at you drummers

DorotheaHomeAlone · 26/02/2017 12:38

Ooh, ooh me! I have one unusually. I just got approached by a stranger at an airport and complimented on my parenting. Amazing by itself but the weird thing was she meant my parenting a year ago when we took my then 16m dd on the same flight. This women sat behind us last year and remembered us because dd was 'so well behaved' and I looked 'so together'! thank god she missed the return journey

Flowersonthewall · 26/02/2017 12:38

After goodness knows how long my 7 months old has been waking every 2 hours...last night she slept from 12 to 7 I feel like I could run a sodding marathon! Bet she won't do it Tonight 😁

malvinandhobbes · 26/02/2017 12:38

Taking a break from family board games while the snotty baby naps in my arms. Good mothering overlaps with pleasant today.

OuchBollocks · 26/02/2017 12:42

I got DD bathed and de tangled her mop of curls (nightmare) with minimal crying. I got her dressed and shared a packet of Smarties almost totally fairly. I have done some interacting with her, and even provided a reasonably healthy lunch. I am 38 weeks pregnant with a leg in an orthopaedic boot as I recover from ankle surgery. I am a fucking hero Grin

GiraffesAndButterflies · 26/02/2017 12:53

I am selflessly spending aaaaaages soothing DS off for his nap.

Okay, I'm bf'ing and MN'ing while DH is probably having to play Paw Patrol with DD. But gimme a medal.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 26/02/2017 12:54

OuchBollocks (great name) tell us more about "almost" fairly... Grin

AYankinSpanx · 26/02/2017 12:56

I'm baking bread, feeding chickens, breastfeeding youngest DD, working (from home), and then I'm taking all the kids to a local historical attraction which they love, but is also very educational . We'll walk around 4 miles there and back so decent-ish exercise for a Sunday as well. Booyah! (as my 7 year old punctuates every sentence with)

urbanrock · 26/02/2017 13:03

I have sorted world book day costumes (harry potter capes), been food shopping with 3 dc without needing to shout too loudly, and made enthusiastic noises at mine craft stuff, and prepped dinner for tonight. Mother of the year*

*House is a tip, the baby is eating quavers for lunch, older dcs haven't done homework and I have a pile of ironing 3 feet high.

Ragwort · 26/02/2017 13:06

I have encouraged my teenage DS and DH to go and sit in a pub to watch their team play football on TV - I have said it is good to have a break from revising for GCSE mocks - and gives me a peaceful afternoon Grin.

Sisonne · 26/02/2017 13:11

I spend hours a week transporting and sitting around waiting for dd's ballet and dance classes. Not to mention festivals and dance workshops. I travel almost two hours each way one night a week for a half hour private lesson with a good teacher! I'm far from alone in this, though, I know of plenty of other parents who do similar and more. Grin

I never knew dog fancy dress shows existed!

seaweedhead · 26/02/2017 13:17

I spent my morning helping the dc make a junk model castle. This is the "family homework" given to us by school Hmm
Have also started thinking about wbd costumes.
