Watery - am now off to research death by firearm in the US because of TV based rows. Bet it is more than at the hands of terrorism, eh Trump?? Grin

WetDogLovesHubert · 26/02/2017 11:18

My MiL does this Angry She talks over or 'falls asleep' during the first half of a film then wants a precis. Duly given, she gets a cat's bum face because I haven't given a detailed breakdown of the film she was ignoring. GAH.

Soubriquet · 26/02/2017 11:19

"Who is that and why are they doing this?"

"I DONT FUCKING KNOW! IM WATCHING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME TOO!!"

"Sooorry, just asking" huff

Yes dh...pay attention then and stop asking!

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 26/02/2017 11:19

My Stepmum is worse. If she finds something funny she laughs so loudly we can't hear anything.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 26/02/2017 11:20

soubriquet - yep sounds like my house, minus the sweariness- ahem..

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 26/02/2017 11:22

Do the people who have DHs do this find it extends to other walks of life too? I find myself in a foreign city saying 'I don't know. I haven't been here before EITHER' etc or 'I don't know how to get there either, owing to the fact that I also have not ever made this journey in a foreign country in the dark, darling.'

HelgaHufflepuff76 · 26/02/2017 11:33

Dh does this a lot, but worst is during Question Time. He sets off almost immediately from the first question and I don't think I hear a single question or answer from the programme after that. I feel like I've just sat through a show about Dh political opinions rather than a question and answer programmeAngry

MycatsaPirate · 26/02/2017 11:34

Yes. Dp and DD both do this and it drives me nuts.

I have resorted to recording stuff I want to watch and watching it when they are both out of the house.

RuggerHug · 26/02/2017 11:59

My normally lovely sister used to be a disaster for this. Or she wouldn't be watching the show but would wait until the crutial plot point to start telling you something she'd already said at least 3 times beforeConfused. Used to interrupt her when she started saying 'yes you already told me that' and then realised the only thing that worked was pause the TV/film and listen. Every time she said a single word. She huffed and stormed off saying I was being dramatic but I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS BLOODY HAPPENING I'VE INVESTED 90 MINS IN IT BY NOW!!! it worked.

missm0use · 26/02/2017 13:05

Every single time! We've got sky, so I record everything I want to watch and either pause it or turn it off we OH comes into the room as he won't bloody shut up!

Although god forbid if DD or I dare interrupt him watching tv ... much huffing, puffing and passive aggressive pausing and rewinding tv! Angry

Astro55 · 26/02/2017 13:11

Another one here! Ffs!! Have you noticed a lot of sports have comentarty - or dissect programmed (after the match)

Think I balme those programs because the boys can't help it!

Can you imagine an eastenders after show?

Janey50 · 02/03/2017 02:20

My DM had form for doing this constantly. She would talk non-stop over the first 20 minutes or so then complain that she couldn't understand what was going on! Then I would miss most of the rest of the programme because I was having to try to explain to her what was happening. It got to the point where I would record anything that I wanted to watch then catch up on it when she wasn't around.

Klaphat · 02/03/2017 03:17

DH always says he's not interested in watching it so goes to have a shower/wash up etc then comes back half way through a programme and wants to be brought up to speed!

DH does this with MN threads.

'What's this one about?'
'Nothing, I cba even reading it.'
'Oh, OK...'

'What's this one?'
'Ehh... it's too difficult to explain. I can send you a link.'
'Ehh, nahh - just gimme a quick summary.'
'I can't. Do you want the link or not? It's a good one.'
'Nah it's OK.'

'...Are you sure?'
'Yeah.'
'Can I scroll down then and continue reading my thread?'
'...OK.'

I had a fucking annoying ex that did that only ever talked over what I wanted to watch would never say a word when he was watching his programs he would always come and stay at mine and he had the annoying hobbit of just turning the TV over as soon as he arrived no matter what I was watching he just took over my TV for the whole time he was there is it any wonder I got rid of him and really looked forward to the day he was going home.
