Returned after some time off and colleague as a joke had cut the head off a figure on my desk.

It's fine to have a joke but to damage property I think is taking it too far.

Something similar happened to my OH a few years ago. Came back from holiday and somebody had stolen a little teddy bear he had on his desk from his XW. The person then sent him jokey emails demanding a ransom and then he got one of its arms left on his desk or something.

He went to HR and so should you. Its bullying.

Friend of mine had her work desk teddy kidnapped and held for ransom too! She had been asked to cover for someone quite senior who was on holiday for a week, doing a damn difficult job she had no experience of and she was stressed to fuck. On the Friday, her workmates thought they'd lighten the tone by pinching said bear, cutting up newspapers to fashion a ransom note and taking pictures of teddy bound and gagged. They didn't hack any of its limbs off, thank heaven - it was the last straw in a tough week without that - she didn't need to go to HR, HR could hear the sobbing and went to her...
