To be thoroughly pissed off?

MIL and FIL are staying for the weekend, they haven't seen their 2 granddaughters (oldest 2yrs 3 month, youngest 11months) since Christmas. FIL was on the phone to SIL in the sitting room, as I brought the little one in to say goodnight he was saying 'we've been here a day and it's just nice to have something sensible to talk about, not just babies'. AIBU to be thoroughly pissed off? We have two very little children and yep our house pretty much revolves around them, if its too much to expect him to be interested in his grandchildren surely it's not too much to expect for him to keep his apathy to himself?

I think it's rude too and probably would have said something also.

A weekend visit that consists of talking about children, decorating and shopping does sound boring. I'd have done something fun and then suggested they go for an adult meal in the evening with their son.

I think we're probably just a bit boring, our weekends often consist of a visit to town and a nice walk! having said that it's not like we do anything riveting when we visit them!

nicae you're not boring at all, I'm sure most families lives sound boring to an outsider! Family weekends pottering around the shops and taking the dog for a walk (in my case) probably do sound very dull to many people but when it's you and your family it's not boring so if they don't like it it's a bit tough really.

How do you know he wasn't referring to his wife
chattering on about the babies?
