Is this normal?

I guess I'm just feeling a bit low and run down and wondering if my feelings are normal. I feel bored and restless if I don't have something on the go. Be it looking for a new house, ttc, finding a new pet etc etc. I have a brilliant life, loving partner, 2 dc that keep me very busy (SAHM) but unless I have a sort of project I feel, not unhappy, but unfulfilled? Unstimulated? This can lead to impulsiveness i.e. I buy things don't necessarily need etc. Is this normal, this craving for doing something and always looking to the future, having to be planning etc. Why can't I just be content with my life. I'm definitely not depressed or anxious. Any ideas? Normal or not?!

Would it help you if you worked part time maybe ? Something to focus on ?

DontFundHate · 15/02/2017 20:04

You sound bored. I get like this. Do you have a hobby? I do lots of crafts

DontFundHate · 15/02/2017 20:04

Or volunteer for a charity? (NCT?)

Olympiathequeen · 15/02/2017 20:04

I'm very similar. I have to have a project. Evening classes, part time, job, studying, small internet business.

Still love doing stuff with the kids and usually have them embroiled in some project too Blush

read a good book?

Fackorf · 15/02/2017 20:08

Childcare is hard work but not all always mentally stimulating....

You sound deeply bored. Maybe having a brilliant partner etc etc makes you think it would look ungrateful to be bored?

But yes, most humans are hard-wired to seek interest in their lives, some through the acquisition of handbags, some through online debate, some through mountaineering. So I don't think your feeling area unusual.

Are you planning to return to work in the future? If it's financially viable, what about studying through the OU?

Fackorf · 15/02/2017 20:09

Typos galore, barely comprehensible Blush

Thanks so much everyone, I expected to be firmly told to get a grip and be grateful for what I've got (which I am). Glad it's not unusual and I'm not alone feeling like this. I just wish I could feel more content and not need to seek new projects etc but I guess that's unrealistic maybe for my personality type. I plan to go back to work next year. Going to look into crafts and new books!

I am exactly the same OP. No idea what the solution is, but you're not alone.

Glitterspy · 15/02/2017 20:34

You have a brain and you need to use it. Nothing abnormal about that.

58NotBothered · 15/02/2017 20:38

Sadly, you are a child of your time.
Always expecting entertainment.

Ihopeyouhadthetimeofyourlife · 15/02/2017 20:50

I am exactly like this. And it's really not that I don't have enough on - I work full time, have 2 children and a fairly big/time consuming voluntary position. But I still feel 'itchy' to do something major pretty much every year. I moved house 18 months ago and I feel like I need to do the next big thing now

My husband is like this. Always looking for the next thing and always wants a project, over the years I've learned to not at all be offended as i used to think maybe i was boring! Turns out its just him and his way, restless bored easily soul! So maybe you are the same and just keep wanting a new challenge.
