To think I'm being ripped off?

Need front & back brake pads & discs changed on my car before DS arrives as I want to ensure my car is safe.

I've just rang a garage & they've quoted £400, £400 for parts and labour??! Is that right??

I have been to our local Kwik fit a number of times and they have always been fantastic. Several times they have done simple jobs/ inspections for free and we have never felt pressurised into having work done. Recently opened up an hour early when my DD needed to get to work after having damaged a wheel and needed a new tyre. As a franchise I suppose it's the luck of the draw.

Two local Ford service centres a bit of a different matter..total rip off merchants.

Took my car to kwik fit once as a teenager. They quoted me an extortionate amount of money and refused to let me have the car back unless I had the work done. They really upset me.
Fil turned up and they returned the car which we took to halfords as it was 100m away. They fixed the car for a third of the cost and told me the car was still within limits on most of the stuff kwik fit were saying was dangerous.

I will never use kwik fit again.

Sorry! The set I found was £50 per set of 2.

Anyways, I've just spoken to a mechanic who has advised me I don't even have brakes on the back of my car so the garage I rang are definitely ripping me off as the cost he quoted was for all four brakes!

So he was going to charge £125 for labour & the rest for "parts", might just ring him and ask that now I don't actually have brakes on the back, does that mean the cost is halved??

However, I now don't trust them as they were trying to mug me off

I wouldnt use Kwik Fit after i saw them on Watchdog a few years ago......I always use small local independents for anything car or house related and its not backfired on me yet.

Fuck me! Run away from this man as quickly as you can!

No brakes at the back?

Your car does have brakes on the back! What your mechanic probably means is not all C2's have disc brakes on the rear, some have drum brakes. The garage would have had to dismantle the drums to assess wear so they are either trying it on or your C2 does indeed have rear discs. Either way parts are cheap online as you've found. A set of front discs and pads can be had for around £40 , rear discs and pads around the same. If your car has rear drum brakes a set of shoes are around £20, wouldn't normally need to replace drums unless the car has an astronomical mileage
