AIBU?

To think this is more than enough calories in a day

My parents are concerned that I do not eat enough. I do seem to be losing around 2 lbs a week but I'm not sure why. I am sure I eat 2000 calories a day.

I have:

Bircher muesli (0% fat natural yogurt, strawberries, 1 cup of whole meal oats, ground almonds, 1 tablespoon peanut and cashew butter)

Lunch: chicken breast sandwich with Philadelphia cream cheese, tomato and lettuce side salad,
potato salad, beetroot, homemade flapjack Made with oats, butter, agave syrup, apricots, raisins and cinnamon.

Snack: fat free natural yogurt, beef slices.

Dinner: wholemeal pasta, extra lean beef burgers (homemade), homemade tomato sauce using herbs and tin of tomatoes.

Dessert: fruit salad and 2 nutri grain cereal bars.

Drinks: tea, coffee, water, 2 skinny lattes. No sugar in my drinks.

To me that seems like a lot of food and I have quite big portions. How can I be losing weight on that?

I walk around 5 miles a day at a brisk pace for exercise.

AIBU to think my parents are being unreasonable to think I need more calories and my weight loss is probably nothing to worry about?

If I lose more I will go to the doctors but in terms of my diet, I think it's absolutely fine.

I thought she meant her TDE
But anyway OP this seems very micro managed for someone without history of ED. Your body needs to be listened to; if you are losing, adjust until you are not.

I'm the same height as you and at that age, a long time ago l was 9 stone. I was very involved in sport and walked to and from work. Now after children, age idleness etc lm 2 stone heavier and would look too thin at 9. But l think 10 is perfect. If you have never walked so much that shock to your system will cause weightloss but you should be beginning to adjust. At that age too l would drop a half stone in a week if l cut out junk. I ate more junk than you. But now l would probably only drop a pound in the same circumstances. What lm trying to say is it sounds fine for your age. Also most people would have rest days from exercise so maybe you do need more if you are doing it everyday.

My fitness tracker used to vastly overestimate my calorie burn - I wouldn't trust the information they provide.
OP go see a doctor.

Log your food and wear a step counter.

She doesn't need to see a doctor, that food isn't 2000 cal. She eats light, she walks a lot. Not rocket science. If she doesn't want to lose weight she'll eat more. If she does, win win.

'Doctor, I eat little and walk a lot, why am I slim?' Honestly.

Barbara you must mean 200-250

I meant total calories of 2000-2500. We burn a good thousand or so calories a day just staying alive without moving at all. Movement is on top of that.

I am probably one of those fidgetty people who burn energy naturally. That, interspersed with a couple of hill walks a week, means that I can get away with eating crap and lots of it, weight-wise at least.

Obviously this is something that I need to address for health as well as weight reasons - my weight is creeping upwards slowly, and clothes are starting to get a bit tight.

You've a lot of strings to your bow user1486841477 - So far in the last hour I've read that....

A) You are a single mum on benefits.

B) You are a qualified social worker looking work.

C) You live in Chester.

D) You live in Oldham.

E) You are moving to London.

F) You used to be a "lucrative" model.

G) You've failed the theory test multiple times but you're "very intelligent".

H) Your parents are concerned about your eating habits.

I) You managed to buy/prep/cook food for 40 people for £53 in one evening and hosted the event, while simultaneously being on Mumsnet doling out advice to others such as "If it's any consolation I'm physically attractive but have been single my entire life".

J) You believe a salary below £25,000 is beneath you and you couldn't possibly take on a job that was outside the remit of your degree.

K) You're down to your last "few hundred" in savings.

L) You walk 5 miles a day.

M) You're Florence Nightingale in your spare time (visiting a sick friend).

N) You make a lot of food from scratch - Homemade everything.

O) You have an endless supply of strawberries, almonds etc.

Honestly where do you find the time/energy to commit yourself to the aforementioned? I'm worried about you, especially now that I've learned that you're losing 2lbs a week without even trying - Things really do just seem to happen for you.

And you have a doctor friend who is now advising you on your diet, brilliant - Will there be a marriage proposal next week?

Fantasist.

You need to have the reason for a significant ongoung unexplained weight loss investigated and I am surprised your doctor friend didn't suggest this

It looks like most of your calories are from carbs and perhaps your burning them off quickly with your walking. Perhaps look at increasing protein and fat? But speak to someone qualified

The validation you seem to need from strangers on the internet and those in your (supposedly) real life is more concerning than your diet. Why all these silly, contradictory stories? Is there something you really want to talk about or is this just for shits and giggles?
