Any teaching staff to help my case here please? I have a very difficult mother who stated today she wants to go away for a couple of weeks over Christmas/New Year to Florida and we should all go to. Cue much cheering from kids etc. However my son will be in year 11. She is adamant that he can be off a week or so either side of the school christmas holiday does anyone know what impact it could have? Or am I just being unreasonable in saying I don't think we should go? Thanks

Thanks again. She is pulling the guilt I won't be around for ever card so it's easier to have hard facts to deal with. She manipulates me emotionally and I am fighting it but it's harder when she gets the kids onside.

No, I would not recommend it.. thibgs really ramp up in year 11 around this time and any time off will have a serious impact. it is so hard to catch up and PLEASE if you do go do not expect the teacher to provide work- I had a parent contact me Thurs to ask for the work for the next two weeks. when I said I didn't have my work planned that far in advance she said I could just send anything as long as I marked it!

Absolutely no. Ds spent all of the Christmas holidays working - except for Christmas and New Year's Day.

Bonkers idea.

Absolutely no...
And the most irritating thing parents do to justify this... 'oh they will go to extra after school sessions to catch up' errrrr so you expect his teachers to work extra hours to make up for your child's holiday.
The sad thing is the teachers do... because they care and because they feel under pressure...
