Aibu to start a washing up jenga war?

In getting so pissed off with being the only one to put away dry dishes in this house.

Yesterday morning I put away all the dishes from the drainer, cleaned the sink and washed up the breakfast dishes. Dp washed up lunch and tea and just piled the dishes on top of the breakfast ones. I tried to get a mug from there last night and it created an avalanche.

I've had enough and have decided I'm not putting dry dishes away either. I'm going to see how long it is before he cracks and does it himself. I've just washed up breakfast and piled them on top of all the ones from yesterday.

Also he leaves things to soak until me the washing up fairy cracks and washes them. Currently there is a grill pan from Thursday and an oven tray and saucepan from last night soaking.

Sorry I know its very trivial but it drives me mad.

Lol - are you a washing up warmonger OP? Wink

PerfectlyPosed · 11/02/2017 11:05

Are you me, OP?! You have described my DP perfectly!

Washingjenga · 11/02/2017 18:57

And we are back in the game. He washed up at lunch and didn't clear the dishes from this morning just piled more on top so when I washed up after tea I just piled more on.

Very anxious for those stacked glasses on the edge op!

Washingjenga · 11/02/2017 19:18

Me too. They were there before I started.

We're with you sister. Keep fighting the good fight.

Those glasses though.

HellonHeels · 11/02/2017 20:26

#resist OP!

You have just inspired me to do my washing up and put it away (I only have my own dishes to do though so it's not the same).

Maybe take the glasses and hide them away somewhere? Stay strong!

HellonHeels · 11/02/2017 20:29

I've heard of people having two dishwashers, using clean things directly from one and putting them dirty into the other.

BeverlyGoldberg · 11/02/2017 20:30

This is brilliant. Although I'm worried for the red bowl again.

Your DD has the same bib as mine.

Mysterycat23 · 11/02/2017 20:34

Love this thread so much! Rooting for you OP!

cornettoninja six?! Wow. I only made it to two. More power to you!

haveacupoftea · 11/02/2017 20:35

Those dishes are very precariously arranged. I predict a fatality before long. Red bowl sadly seems certain to suffer a sticky end.

isthistoonosy · 11/02/2017 20:42

We played this for a while, then we got a second drainer and got rid of some of the crockery (storage). Problem solved.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/02/2017 20:49

I really really like the red bowl.

theoldtrout01876 · 11/02/2017 22:16

I am the dish genga master Grin. I can get my pile higher than the microwave and have it contain EVERY piece of cutlery we own. Im looking at a 2 foot pile with a large spill over onto the counter as we speak, debating putting down the wine and going to take a picture

amysmummy12345 · 11/02/2017 22:19

Any casualties?!

Washingjenga · 12/02/2017 10:01

I won again. He cleared the drainer before he washed up breakfast.

OP posts:
HellonHeels · 12/02/2017 10:48

Good work! Did he put the stuff away after washing it though?

Keep up the fight!

Writerwannabe83 · 12/02/2017 10:59

I can't bring myself to play this game with actual filth anymore but am currently restating myself from tidying his crap out of the bathroom.

Me and DH have separate bathrooms for exactly this reason Grin

OP - my DH also puts freshly washed things on top of things that are already dry in the rack and it drives me insane Angry

Washingjenga · 12/02/2017 11:00

No he didn't put the stuff away after washing but then we never do. It should get put away before you wash up the next load but Dp doesn't always.

OP posts:
BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 12/02/2017 13:33

I'd be ok with leaving the drying pile to dry, as long as it gets put away before next load gets washed

Washingjenga · 12/02/2017 13:36

I'm on washing up lunch duty today. Do i pile it on top of the breakfast dishes or clear them first?

OP posts:
haveacupoftea · 12/02/2017 15:09

Clear them, he has done it a couple of times and you dont want to lose the moral high ground.

Those of you complaining about DP shower gel bottles, at least he uses his own shower gel and doesnt nick your Rituals foaming shower gel out of the set your sister got you for Christmas Angry

Washingjenga · 12/02/2017 16:21

I did clear them. I have no doubt he will just chuck the tea dishes on top of what I've just washed.

OP posts:
BeverlyGoldberg · 12/02/2017 16:57

This feels like the frontline of feminism.

We're all behind you OP.

OwlinaTree · 12/02/2017 17:03

Well I only wash up once a day (lots of it goes in the dishwasher). I do clear the dry stuff off the drainer before I start.

Washing up 3 times a day is very admirable!
