AIBU to ask any London based MNers to attend this event on my behalf?

Mall Lobby to guarantee rights of residence of EU citizens.
It's on the 20th of February.

I am in Scotland and have no way of making it there (even though I have registered and I have mailed by MP, but have not heard back).

Any proxy attendees who fancy having out in Parliament for a while?
There might be canapés and fizz, who knows?! doubt it
Thanks

I won't be able to make it unfortunately but I've shared it to with my local (London) fb group which should hopefully get a few down there.

WidowWadman · 10/02/2017 15:27

I'd echo the recommendation if only to protect yourself from Brexit consequences. Must say I found it emotionally weird to naturalise (and was glad I could retain German citizenship still), and that hasn't become any better since the referendum.

PacificDogwod · 10/02/2017 15:44

Thank you, again! Smile
The more people share this with their FB and other social media, the more will hopefully add their support.

I will continue considering citizenship, but the awkward side of me resents it tbh.

Can't blame you Pacific Dogwood , probably would feel the same if I hadn't done it already. If it wasn't for having a mortgage, and the kids, but if it was just me and my husband without much responsibilities, we'd probably just be upping sticks and go elsewhere in Europe, I think.

Tomorrow is 1 Day Without Us - I will be working but will have my poster up.
A tiny contribution as I cannot make it to the mass lobby.

Glad it so important that you can't take a day's annual leave.

TheAugury · 19/02/2017 14:37

TM has already tried to doghouse the EU refused to guarantee the rights of British citizens. You should be matching and lobbying in Brussels so yes YABU and time wasting in fact resource wasting why would you March demanding something the government t is trying to get??? Middle class fuckwittery at its best.

TheAugury · 19/02/2017 14:41

Doghouse? Negotiate/guarantee

Levie · 19/02/2017 14:52

I'll be there.
Since when is it 'middle class fuckwittery' to contact your MP and raise legitimate concerns about serious issues which affect you deeply?

TheAugury · 19/02/2017 15:30

when said MPs already agree with you and are in fact striving for that end so lobby the bodies blocking it not those trying to achieve it. Or do you think British citizens resident in the EU should be thrown under a bus for no reason at all? You may have your nose in the moral high ground but your feet are mired in the selfish mud.

PacificDogwod · 19/02/2017 16:11

TheAugury, I don't understand Confused

caroldecker, Pacific is (a) in Scotland and (b) a GP. Not just as easy as taking a day's leave. If she and other EU citizens leave, we are up the creek without a paddle. The flipside is that we have lots of UK citizens living abroad who don't necessarily want to come back here. This appears to be what TheAugury is talking about, but it's a separate issue. Neither of them would be live issues without the Brexit vote.

PacificDogwod · 19/02/2017 18:31

Here's another thread also not exactly setting MN on fire.
Sad

carol, my surgery can barely cope as it is, I've not had my allocated annual leave in the last 3 or 4 years and apart from patient care I think my (very lovely) partners would have my guts for garters! Grin

I do hope the EU will still give a warm welcome to Brits moving abroad.

As for all the migrants in the U.K.- I would go back 'to where you came from' as you might be appreciated there. I'm sorry our country is such an ass.

PacificDogwod · 19/02/2017 19:58

A few weeks after the Brexit result I got letters, from my local councillor and my MSP, both SNP and both reassuring me how valued my contribution to British society was and who welcome I was.

I had not been worried until I got those letters.... HmmGrin
And clearly there was a political agenda, seeing what party both oh so concerned politicians belonged to.

Ah, well.
I am very lucky. I could return to 'where I came from'. Not everybody is in that position.
