To be concerned about DDs reading

Well, it's not actually her reading I'm concerned about. She's getting books from school that I feel are way beneath her. I asked for more challenging books and the teacher wrote that they were working on pacing and being fluent, she sent the same book home which my daughter read to me this morning without any issues in these areas. Now she might not read it as well in school if she feels pressured but she's not the sort of kid to be like that afaik. What would you do? I'm considering not reading the books that they send and reading other material and writing that in her journal. I don't want her to get bored.

Why does a school with 12 pupils need that many staff?

Sorry that sounded snippy but genuinely curious as to what the rules etc are for small schools and the number of staff required

Sounds like she is doing well op so yabu as you've admitted!!

Bumsexatthebingo post is really good for the questions and answers they will be looking for.

Maybe she answers/reads differently in school than at home but like you've said just let her enjoy books. Sometimes I read a rubbish magazine just for enjoyment so just because the books from school are 'easy' doesn't mean they can't be fun too.

Theanti no idea. I suppose because they still have 3 separate classes. We've had a couple of small years so a large intake this September could up the numbers. We live in the middle of nowhere with another really good school near by then a larger very good school closer to town.
Little, that's very true, I still enjoy a trashy magazine now and then!
Thanks mnetters for putting my mind at ease :)
