Since 8pm they have been digging up my road. There are currently two men hitting concrete with a crowbar and hammer due to a burst water pipe.

They claim they have to as there's a bust pipe - this has been going on for 3 weeks with water running down our road so hardly an emergency all of a sudden.

If water has been running down the street for 3 weeks I'd say it was essential works.

well, it was essential and urgent 3 weeks ago

fraught and fright trains :o
they are certainly frightening if you don't expect them.

And getting in the way of everyone trying to get to work

On a quiet residential road? Hardly.

Police not a reasonable response. Local council have responsibilities re noise so complain to them.

Or find out where the MD lives and go past in your car one evening sounding the horn loudly.

MsJamieFraser · 07/02/2017 18:49

What do you expect the police to do Confused they are not committing a crime, if it's noise your complaining about then that's your council or even better contact the water board.

The police are not a catch all for everything that goes wrong in people's lives. They are for crimes.

Water company here did that to us - we had ten month old twins, they shoved a letter through the door saying they were going to be doing repairs from 7pm Friday to 6am Monday about ten minutes before they started. I was crying when I went out and asked them to please stop for a few hours - they were supposed to stop between midnight and 6am but didn't and I had work both days. We only had single glazing then as well.

God I have every sympathy for you OP. God forbid commuters are put out for two days when entire families can be without sleep for a full weekend.

LeopardPrintSocks1 · 07/02/2017 19:14

Well they haven't been there all day, just left a big hole in the ground and road still closed so I'm guessing they'll be back at 8pm. Dickheads
