Tiger balm Shock great stuff but by heck its strong.

2017SoFarSoGood · 07/02/2017 17:25

I have just remembered being totally addicted to the Vick sticks you used to sniff to clear your nose. If I recall correctly, I may have spent most of my early teenage years with one up one or other of my nostrils.

They were marvelous and I must get one immediately

Miserylovescompany2 · 07/02/2017 17:38

I knew someone who because very addicted to the Vicks inhaler, he had one constantly shoved up his nostril. I don't think he tried other orifices though? (I could be wrong)

I used to smother myself in Vicks as a child. I don't think you are supposed to put it on your nostrils either...of course I never knew that then.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/02/2017 17:39

Vicks Vaporub is well known as a gateway drug to shooting up Fisherman's Friends.

Just say no, my friend.

Serialweightwatcher · 07/02/2017 17:53

A dear friend of mine who is no longer with us once asked her hubby to shave her bits or apply cream down there for some medical reason - she had a really bad back and couldn't bend - he put toothpaste on by accident and she nearly hit the ceiling with the burning Sad

grannytomine · 07/02/2017 17:58

2017SoFarSoGood, oh yes I want one of those inhaler stick things as well. Do they still do them?

maplepixie · 07/02/2017 18:00

OMG the drug/fanny combo 😂😂 literally made me LOL

Bridgetnoknickers · 07/02/2017 18:16

I feel like this thread has escalated rapidly. Am sat in the car snorting with laughter- husband is hoisting up his judgy pants and appalled at all of us Grin

mrshuggybear · 07/02/2017 18:17

Not that off really, it is a comforting scent but I am not sure if it is meant to be used long term and like others have said it would put me off if I was your partner.
I'd suggest a diffuser or pillow mist. Find a scent you love. Experiment with different essential oils. You can get menthol ones, eucalyptus etc. People tend to know just lavender but there are so many others, orange, lemon, rose, herbs, flowers, fruits. For me they often evoke an emotion.

I love certain blends and they just make me feel so chilled and happy. I do struggle with anxiety and use essential oils to help with that too. I think I am a very scent led person.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/02/2017 18:20

Bridget,

I like the fact that your DH is "hoisting up his judgy pants", oblivious to you not wearing any Grin Grin

(Well, according to your username...).

PopcornBits · 07/02/2017 18:25

You should try Vicks first defence that stuff is good at getting rid of a head cold

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/02/2017 18:26

Some of the lads I used to go raving with used to rub Vicks on their...ahem...balls, while high.

I can't stand the smell of it, it just reminds me of my ex boyfriend's balls being ill.

stressedinsurrey · 07/02/2017 19:05

This is why I love Mumsnet. I learn so much! I particularly love that in between hilarious posts people are trying to give proper advice! I once drank water after brushing my teeth and my husband was horrified at the discomfort it would apparently cause me, so I imagine pleasuring him after menthol sweets may be a non-starter! 😂😂😂

Llanali · 07/02/2017 19:54

I used A certain high street brand of tingle effect lube once. once.

Omfg I nearly died. I was out of that bed and into that shower quicker than flash flash 100 yard dash. I never tried it again.

I never had sex with that lad again either. Proba scarred him with the sight of my E cup boobs flying as I sprinted to the bathroom

Bookworm1234 · 07/02/2017 20:00

You lot are mad as hatters! Love it! Was feeling full of cold and sorry for myself now I'm looking forward to a good dose of vicks Grin

SunshinenSparkles · 07/02/2017 20:03

Lol I'm so glad I clicked on this thread!

On the tingle note....it's supposed to be pleasant. I tend not to agree lol at the very best it's distracting IYKWIM Wink

Llanali · 07/02/2017 20:06

Distracting? Distracting?! It was definitely that!

You know that bit in the bible? The bit snikt the Burning bush? Yep. That.

SunshinenSparkles · 07/02/2017 23:30

Llanali you had me laughing there!! What I mean is yeh it burns but even at the very least it's distracting lol it certainly doesn't increase pleasure. Makes me wonder why they make these products though...do some people like the burning or not feel it or what?! I mean, its advertised as 'tingling' and such...not S&M Burning Gel, Fire Lube etc lmao!

WillowinGloves · 11/02/2017 19:50

2017sofarsogood... yes! We always had Vicks in our pencil cases and sniffed away in lessons

WillowinGloves · 11/02/2017 19:51

That was the late 70s/early 80s...

Roomba · 11/02/2017 19:54

I read somewhere that Vicks Vaborub is seen as a 'cure all' in many African American households, and that it's also a running joke that Latino mothers use Vicks to cure everything, to the point of getting their kids to swallow spoonfuls of it!

scaryclown · 12/02/2017 09:42

haha those silly neg...

Its great when racism is just anecdotes isnt it Roomba...Hmm
