Just was wondering if anyone else had any funny stories from when they met in laws for first time or if I just have all the strange luck lol

So years ago when first went round to new boyfriends house (we were teens, he still lived with parents) for the first time he told me that his dad worked nights and that I needed to be quiet... Fair enough.
Bout an hour later I needed a drink and asked to get a glass of water, got to the kitchen found the glasses just as im about to take a sip their huge cat jumps on the counter making me shriek and smash the glass on the floor.
Next thing bf father runs down the stairs completely naked holding a golf club.
Well we all stand in silence me covering my eyes and bf dad going red and running back upstairs.

Does anyone else have any embarrassing in law stories?
Im poorly with horrible cold could do with a few laughs.
Thanks xx

I met PIL and my 'other' inlaws (DH's inlaws from his first marriage) at a dinner. It seemed like a good idea to get it all over and done with in one go. Two sets of PIL, BIL, DH's SIL and DS1 who was 3 1/2.

At various points through the meal I offered MIL to help and she asked me to take the trifle through while DH loaded the plates into the dishwasher. Picked up the trifle, headed through, turned back to hear something DH said and tripped over the door bar thing. Trifle went flying everywhere.

MIL and OMIL laughed so hard they ended up clinging to each other crying. FIL said "I fucking hate trifle anyway..." They still bring it up now and they both still howl with laughter as apparently my face was an absolute picture.

weeonion & amusedbush my Church of Ireland granny and my Catholic DH bonded over the oddidity of Presbyterians, which was pretty much the rest of us at a family christening...

My husband's granny rushed upstairs when she heard we were coming and took in her Easter rising flag in case it offended me and his uncle hurriedly stuffed his copy of an phoblacht under the sofa when he realised he'd left it out Grin

An ex-colleague of mine met her future in-laws for the first time over dinner in a posh restaurant. She was incredibly nervous, made even worse for her by the fact that future FIL was a famous actor. So nervous, in fact, that she threw up at the table! That broke the ice.

This is my dad's with his girlfriend before my mum. Took her home to meet his mum and (very new) step father. They - or at least step father - already knew her. She'd been his student at uni a couple of years before and they'd had a 'passionate fling'. My granny thought it was hilarious, my dad still shudders about it.

I met my MIL when DH and I were on our second date. We apparently randomly met her in town. DH later found out his mum had rung his friends up quizzing them about me & was waiting there purely to bump into us.
