To ask how the fuck I get rid of a rat from my back garden?

Tiny London back garden. Adopted baby arriving THIS WEEK and a rat has just shown up. Am frrrrrreaking out.

I could lend you my son - he's an expert shot and can get them straight through the temples!

We have a similar issue so watching with interest. Have you found where they are getting in? I've blocked up a few access holes which seems to have stopped the issue (for now!)

Call the council who come and lay traps (well they do in my area anyway)

Pest Control, asap. Enviroguard is the name of one lot. The rat will not have come alone.

I don't think you can do much if they're just in your garden? They're everywhere you just don't see them often.

Depends where it is coming from. If it's in your garden then it's easy enough to get rid of the nest (there will be more than one......they're sociable little chaps!). If it's in another garden then you need to get everyone on board.

Sorting rats out in urban environments is far harder than rural areas! Speak to the council,as they will approach other householders.

We occasionally see rats in our garden - they've never come in the house. Wouldn't occur to me to worry about it anymore than I would squirrels or foxes or mice or sparrows. Just nature so long as it stays out the house.

Probably only one nest as rats are very territorial.

Make sure your bins are secure and let 'im get on with it. Is probably not resident. Poor ratty.

We had this in a previous house. Saw it walk across the patio. So we called the council and they sent someone out who laid traps and then came and collected them. It resolved the issue. Call your local council and ask.

Yes, despite my son's fondness for assassinating them - rats don't actually bother me at all.

They come onto our bird table but I have never seen one close to the house.

We are very rural, so in addition to rats we get mink, weasels, stoats - all sorts.

No good if you don't have a gun.

If you shoot one the rest get the hint.

Sorry but there are thousands of rats within a square mile of you. You can get live cage traps that wont hurt other wildlife or cats. Cat food makes a good bait, they cant resist it.

Ensure no food source in your garden
Ensure nowhere for them to hide no log store or compost heap etc
Lay lots of poison. Do nothing for a week
After week clear any potential hiding places.
No food or nowhere to hide they move on.
This was advice of pest control man worked for us
Am phobic about rats!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't put poison down. Our cat was killed by such STUPID behaviour.

Do you know anyone with a hound or a terrier?

My fox hound would come round and finish it off in minutes!
