To ask how much TV you watch?

ADayGivingMeHope · 05/02/2017 21:54

Not your DC, but you and your DP.
We probably watch too much, when our DC go to bed at 7:30 until we go to bed at around 11pm, The tv is on.
Sometimes I have a show on and DH is reading and vice versa but we do watch a lot together.
How much do you watch?

MiladyThesaurus · 05/02/2017 22:35

DH does watch a lot of genuine crap on YouTube. I read or MN while he does.

meltownmary · 05/02/2017 22:35

The ad breaks are nearly as long as the programs now. I can't stand it that's what put me off in the first place.

Yes, I know I can pause and fast forward through the ad breaks and so on but it is just too much trouble.

So I don't watch anymore.

Still, I figure I am not exposed to endless ads and drivel that I don't like either.

But whatever floats yer boat, as they say!

Chasingsquirrels · 05/02/2017 22:37

Quite a lot, most evenings for a few hours.
More at the moment as DH is terminally unwell and we'll have it on in the day as well.

SparklyLeprechaun · 05/02/2017 22:40

None at all, unless I'm sick off work. We might catch a movie on Netflix together once every couple of months, and DH might watch one if he can't sleep. But no TV.

PunkrockerGirl · 05/02/2017 22:43

Loads, including daytime if I'm not at work.

JaneJeffer · 05/02/2017 22:47

I watch Emmerdale every day because I just love it! And I watch as much tennis as I can.

Apart from that I usually only half-watch anything these days because I'm usually doing something else at the same time. I have loads of stuff in my planner that I never get round to watching. I don't know where the time goes. I used to watch a lot more and read a lot more!

bunnylove99 · 05/02/2017 22:48

1-2 hours an evening, from 9-10'30/11pm.

Oysterbabe · 05/02/2017 22:53

It's pretty much always on in the background when we're home but I'm usually doing other stuff and not actually watching it.

downwardfacingdog · 05/02/2017 23:26

Loads! Barely any live TV( though home makeover/building programmes are my guilty pleasure and I record them) but DH and I binge-watch series on Netflix and AP most eves when the kids are in bed.

user1477282676 · 05/02/2017 23:28

None at all unless there's something we love. DH and I watch things online sometimes but mostly, DH listens to music, I write or draw. Sometimes a series like Stranger Things will come along and we will watch it but not often.

downwardfacingdog · 05/02/2017 23:28

I think there's a lot of snobbery about TV watching, and watching films or reading is more acceptable, but there is some real quality stuff available now.

nelipotter · 05/02/2017 23:30

None. Haven't had a TV for 10 years. Very occasionally watch a movie online. Watched the final of the tennis with a friend.

At my mums we might watch a bit of news when I go round every other week.

BonnieF · 05/02/2017 23:35

Soaps / talent shows / 'reality' / game shows / breakfast / daytime / anything with the word 'celebrity' in the title : never.

Drama & films : occasionally.

News, current affairs, wildlife & documentaries : frequently.

Sport : shitloads. I've been watching the 6 Nations, the Davis Cup and football this weekend.

notagiraffe · 05/02/2017 23:40

about an hour a day. DH and I watch one drama episode or two short comedy episodes a night while DC (teens) are having baths and getting stuff ready for the morning.

foxyloxy78 · 05/02/2017 23:42

Half an hour a day. Wish it was more!! Occasionally the odd film, but average is that a day.

DramaAlpaca · 06/02/2017 00:03

Too much really. I often have the TV on in the background while I'm MNing on my laptop.

DH & I watch loads of live sports together. We record everything else so we can watch when we want and skim through the ads. We like different things, but try to find stuff we can watch together as well.

LarrytheCucumber · 06/02/2017 06:06

I never watch anything food or cooking related, so that cuts down the choice. I have never watched Bake Off.

KeyserSophie · 06/02/2017 06:21

V little - possibly as we live overseas so it's all Netflix or Apple - l watch GOT when there's a new series, and I binge watch stuff like Black Mirror, but generally I prefer to surf the net or read. Dh watches tonnes- mini series like Sons of Anarchy, Gotham and that Viking thing.

KeyserSophie · 06/02/2017 06:21

Just realised that "surf the net" makes me sound about 70.

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 06/02/2017 06:23

A lot less that we used to, thankfully! Would also dependin on weather, previously winter-time would be on from about 6 til 1am 😆!

Since we made that decision... Our evenings are more fun.. We have longer, chatty dinnertimes, and listen to radio more.

Now, we only have live TV on now if we both actively want to watch something.... Before we just watchjng whatever dross was on! We now see stuff we like on catch- up.. Today for example..Horrible weather and both of us been ill... So we were catching up on the BBC Hospital documentary, and also the latest unforgotten episode(brilliant!) , and Friday's Graham NortonGrin.

Gwilt160981 · 06/02/2017 06:53

Not alot. Only watch walking dead and eastenders. And maybe a film sometimes.

DorkusDelonghi · 06/02/2017 06:56

One or two hours a week and only if it's something we've recorded.

We do usually watch Question Time live though.

GirlOverboard · 06/02/2017 07:01

I watch a lot of TV, it's one of my favourite past times. But I'm usually doing something else at the same time e.g. putting my make-up on, painting my nails, drying and straightening my hair, cooking dinner, reading the newspaper, tidying up, checking my emails, ironing, exercising etc. So I don't feel guilty about the amount of TV I watch.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 06/02/2017 07:04

A couple of hours a week (things like Bake-Off, Strictly, Apprentice when they're on). More over Christmas. I'd like to watch more TBH but I'm not very good at relaxing during the evenings, by the time we've all got home from Scouts, Guides, exercise classes etc and the DCs have gone to bed it's around 9.30, then there are usually a few jobs to do then I tend to MN on my phone for a bit and chat to DH rather than watch TV. I miss the days of DCs being in bed by 7.30 and watching telly properly.

flirtygirl · 06/02/2017 07:32

Actual tv 2 hours per week.

Streamed american cop shows through my laptop 3 or 4 hours a night.

Cant stand tv anymore as no choice in whats on and i refuse to pay for extra channels.

If my dd aged 7 didnt watch it i would sell it and never lay licence fee. I would rather pay for amazon prime or netflix or something instead.
