To wish camera phones had been about when I was a lass?

Lighthearted!

I did quite a lot of fun and exciting things as a youngster but unfortunately have no record of them whatsoever.

Now, I am not suggesting the other extreme of videoing every concert and uploading a thousand images onto Facebook are positive things in any way but just the same, there are NO pictures of me between the ages of 16 and 28! and I'm sure I was quite nice looking then!

Or AIBU?

I took very few photos because as someone already said, you just didn't take cameras on a night out. Didn't even have any of things like graduation. It's daft really but if I ever look through younger friends' Facebook accounts there's more of a 'record' of their lives? Daft, I know Grin

As someone who was a badly dressed gobshite until the age of about 25, I'm very glad phone cameras and social media weren't around when I was growing up!

PlayOnWurtz · 05/02/2017 11:34

I'm glad they weren't about because it meant I got to experience everything with my eyes not through the veil of social media

SpookyPotato · 05/02/2017 12:04

I'm really glad they weren't around.. the throwaway cameras were bad enough! I think back to everyone at school and we were all puppy fat, spotty, greasy hair and bad makeup Grin Most people have blossomed now in their 30s.

YABU I'm so glad there's little evidence of my huge barrel roll fringe and spiral perm.

On one hand, I'm sad that there are so few photos knocking around from when I was a teenager. I was horribly insecure and destroyed them as soon as the pack arrived into the house. Looking back, I was a lovely wee thing and would love to go back in time and give myself a shake.

On the other hand, less evidence of the land before eyebrows and GHDs!

Also, I think camera phones have enable a new breed of insane narcissism and sucked the fun out of being a kid. I have young cousins and nieces (as young as 12) on instagram etc and its all very duck-pouty and always standing sideways with their bums sticking out.

I used to have disposable cameras instead. They were only a couple of quid and someone would always have one. Ive got 3 full photo albums from my teens up until mid twenties of days/nights out and hoildays etc. Now I'm early 30s I love to look back at them!
