This is kind of a TAAT but not, seen a thread earlier asking if you identified someone on here what would you do.

I've changed my username panicking though is practically identical and now feel lost and like a beginner again Blush

I get so paranoid people think I'm a furry creature so never changed my name so history is identifiable.

Am I the only one that thinks like this? BlushGrin

Every 3 months or so. I changed yesterday.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 04/02/2017 08:32

Never. I'm on the app, mainly, and too lazy to go onto the website to change. I don't post anything that would be a problem if someone recognised me in RL but I still don't like the idea much and hope if someone did they'd PM to let me know so I could change.

JaceLancs · 04/02/2017 08:47

Not yet

justgivemethepinot · 04/02/2017 08:52

Once a year or so, not worried about being outed, I'm fairly vague on here. I just get bored and fancy a change.

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 04/02/2017 08:58

Jeffrey caused a namechange for me but not before or since. I am not interesting enough to be someone others 'hunt down'
I would hate to lose this name too. I have become quite attached to it, not because of my posting history, just because it's almost exactly funny enough.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 04/02/2017 09:34

TheGirl I've changed mine on the app, go to setting at the top right, then my mumsnet and you can pick a new one, don't have to go on the site :)

A lot of posters post information about their friends and family which if you were their friends or family you wouldn't probably wouldn't want posting - if you do that then I think you should name change for their sake. Even if you don't mind if you are identifyabke it's unfair to expose other people.

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 04/02/2017 22:36

Well I wrote this and changed my username but keep forgetting to change them on posts so I'm just confusing myself and others haha 🙈

Oldraver · 04/02/2017 22:40

Almost never. I briefly changed a few years ago for a very sensitive post and have added stuff for special occasion....I was Old Spot Raver during a piggy phase

SarcasmMode · 04/02/2017 22:43

Every 6-9 months.

I think I've changed it 7 times in 5 years.

I tend to do it when the name is no longer relevant or I'm bored.

meganorks · 04/02/2017 22:46

How do you do it?

veevita · 04/02/2017 22:47

I've just checked and this is my 49th name on six years. Think I'll change again in a minute to get a round 50

dalmatianmad · 04/02/2017 22:51

I've never even thought to change my user name?? I've had this one for approx 6 years

DJBaggySmalls · 04/02/2017 22:52

I've changed a few times.
MN was hacked.
Then for some reason I couldnt log in, so just waited a few days and started a new account.
then some idiot cleared my browser history and I couldnt remember my password so ditto.
twice a long term user took umbrage against me and it got nasty so ditto.
once someone (probably a troll) started sending weird messages so ditto.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 04/02/2017 23:35

I've changed mine a few times-for various reasons, was quite pissed off at having to change my original username as it was very me & I loved it. My last one was a change for Halloween & I quite like it so will stick with it, for now...

CointreauVersial · 04/02/2017 23:44

I've only changed it once. My first user name was pretty rubbish, so once I'd thought of a better one, I changed it. And have stuck with the same one ever since (a good few years now).

I don't post anything particularly personal so don't really care if anyone knows who I am.

SilentBob · 04/02/2017 23:46

Never. I have a couple of reasons:

  1. I'm boring as shite (but in my head I am as cutting and witty as they come)
  2. I have no RL friends anyway and very little family so no chance of anyone outing me as boring as shite. Gin
SilentBob · 04/02/2017 23:47

Hmmm, I meant to add a Grin at the end of my post but ended up with a Gin

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 04/02/2017 23:53

Gin Shock Shock & as Gin connoisseur drinker I cannot believe this is the first time I've noticed we have a Gin emoji thingy!!

SilentBob · 04/02/2017 23:58

Snap, NoFucking, I saw my error as I pressed post and expected nothing more than the word tin but, lol and behold...Gin! Who knew?Smile

SilentBob · 04/02/2017 23:59

*gin, obviously. I suck at this tonight. [sigh]

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 05/02/2017 00:17

Well I thank you for bringing it to my attention Grin
