AIBP (precious) - expectations of 13 month old

The baby has just learnt to walk.
Am I being ridiculously precious in thinking asking them to find a hidden doll, go and sit with mummy, sing into the microphone and kick/roll/throw a football is just slightly too much?

Well if you don't like the class find another one!

However it's not going to do him any harm attending with older kids.

I used to attend a class with my twins that had children from 4 months to 3 yo. The smaller ones either watched, imitated the older kids or were supported by their parents to participate. eg if the teacher says "sit with Mummy" you call him by name and make gestures to support the command. You take him by the hand to "hunt" for the doll.

These kinds of classes are usually meant to be participative (for the parents)

I know the music class you are talking about. I take my DD and she loves it. But she is 22 months. And last week was the first time she spotted the doll, I was so ridiculously proud!! There are some just walking babies at our class and they don't participate as much as the older kids but they do get something from it. Our teacher is always very good not to expect too much of the smaller ones and everyone gets a clap for 'trying' when it comes to repeating back in the microphone.

I think it's about getting them used to new words and following instructions especially if most of the kids are older than your DS.
I've been playing a game of rolling the ball and asking my son to roll it back to me for months. He's 11 months now and understands the game. Same with peekaboo and hiding toys under something and asking him to find it. Repetition is how they learn.
