To be fed up of doctors doing this

I have a couple of long term medical conditions and I get items on a repeat prescription. Ever 6 months I have to make an appointment for a review and they are reissued. All good.
However a couple of times now an item has been removed from my repeat without consultation. It is a bath additive for a skin condition I have.
The last time it happened I queried it and they put it back on.
Maybe the rules have changed and I can no longer get this on prescription. (NHS under pressure etc etc).
However I still think that if they are going to remove it they should consult with me first to check how severe my symptoms are.

Some hay fever tablets are prescription only. However I agree that otc ones shouldn't usually be prescribed. They are pennies for a two week supply in places like Savers. Far less than a prescription charge.

Glitter - I buy mine OTC, well online now because they query the prescription every time. It's not the cheapest though as I take 4 of the standard one a day ones

I had an item which had been prescribed by GP on repeat removed without warning. The receptionist after some lengthy to'ing and fro'ing told me it was no longer authorised on prescription and to go and buy it. I was a little surprised as I'd assumed it was POM. But ok I get the NHS crisis and just would have preferred warning so I could plan to replace it before running out.

By now ...item was overdue but working full time made it difficult for me to get to pharmacy...made it in and asked for item to be told I needed a prescription from a GP (private prescription).

I was annoyed at this point because it seems like the NHS had been withdrawn and I'd been pushed into private medical treatment without option.

So I have to make an appt with GP to ask for a private prescription.

I was given an NHS one....

Wasted GP time.
Wasted receptionists time
Wasted lots of my time
Wasted pharmacy time
Delayed my treatment

I find repeat items get removed if you don't request them regularly and you've not mentioned the condition at the last couple of consultations so it's not obvious you still actually need them. If you just occasionally need bath stuff or a moisturiser you can buy it like everyone else. I'm sure if you consult your GP about the actual condition because it flares up they'll put it back on again. It's unlikely something will be removed if you are seeing a consultant currently about the condition and having it monitored.
You used to have to see the GP every time you wanted a script for anything.
Some people sound as though they think their repeat prescriptions are something they're entitled to without having to see a GP, rather than something the person signing the script is legally responsible for so has to be sure you really need it and aren't getting side effects from it.

I am very happy to have regular reviews. My last one was three months ago. At that time I explained why I needed said item and it was reissued without question. I have probably been to see GP twice I. The last year with flare ups. The only item I have on repeat for this condition is the bath oil as I buy my own moisturizer and they prescribed a huge steroid cream which lasts. The bath oil is requested monthly.
Maybe it isn't the GPS fault as they have to remove it.
I won't bother querying it for now but will ask in my next review.

The condition will never go away and I will always have to wash so I will probably give dermol cream a try.
