To be fed up with STICKER RAGE! (light hearted)

I just bought a couple of fridge containers from Aldi.

There is a sticker THE SIZE OF A PIECE OF A4 PAPER welded to the bottom with what appears to be a variant of superglue.

Water does not remove it.

Detergent does not remove it.

Soaking does not remove it.

Even white spirit doesn't remove it.

AIBU to want to get all CEOs of companies into a room and say "For GOD'S SAKE MAKE REMOVABLE STICKERS EASY PEEL!"

(Yes, I realise this is a first world problem, and we are on the verge of cataclysmic environmental and political change... but I would prefer not to spend my remaining time until the apocalypse scrubbing stickers off plastic).

how wibbly is is wibbly?
I only have the one box so pondering if it's worth the dishwasher risk...

Picture of the wibble. It's definitely a noticeable and annoying wibble. I am not sure how long I will be able to endure it before exporting to the greenhouse where it will not offend me nor remind me of sticker trauma.

(The box that survived was at the top of the dishwasher, in case that makes a difference and is more than just luck)

I always find vinegar works well.

shovetheholly · 01/02/2017 14:35

Sadly, vinegar, lemon juice, salt etc. don't stand a chance against this. It's like they've used Gorilla Glue. Okite can back me up. It's the...

Worst
Sticker
Ever.

Kim (from Kim and Aggie) uses mayonnaise to get stickers off...

Mehfruittea · 01/02/2017 14:52

Top shelf of the dishwasher is not as hot, so that will be why one survived. Quite a lot of plastic storage and Tupperware are only suitable for the top shelf.

I can't believe how tough it it, this makes me want to go and buy one...just for the challenge. Perhaps start a facebook selling page of salad drawers with their stickers removed....Hmm

Okite · 01/02/2017 14:56

This is after oiling and scraping. Hmm

I've found perfume to be very good at removing sticky label/residue, and it has the added bonus of smelling nice too Smile

Okite · 01/02/2017 16:46

Mine's now been through the dishwasher and STILL covered in sticky stuff.

NotLadyPrickshit · 01/02/2017 16:54

Does it fit in the fridge OP?

After soaking a similar product & sticker overnight I was gutted to discover that they do not actually fit in my fridge Sad

Okite · 01/02/2017 19:24

I've found the answer!!
Nail varnish remover! Poured some in, it turned the adhesive to gloop and it was easy to wash off. Finally!
