To my knowledge they never have. DC 1 is primary and DC2 pre school. Am I missing the signs? Is it possible not to have had them?!

You've got plenty of time yet.

Servicesupportforall · 31/01/2017 11:18

I think it's hilarious you are so complaisent op. Especially with kids so young. Grin

deadringer · 31/01/2017 11:18

My eldest two didn't get nits til they were 12, and only one of my five have ever had threadworms. As others have said don't congratulate yourself just yet, it's all ahead of you.

GreatFuckability · 31/01/2017 11:27

only my eldest has ever hd nits once. only the youngest has ever had worms. the filthy boy in the middle has never had either. shrug

CigarsofthePharoahs · 31/01/2017 12:06

As yet no nits or worms for my 6 year old. The school are pretty hot on checking for nits and I douse him in repellant spray regularly. I wouldn't know what to look for with worms. It is possible to miss your child having nits. I had several infestations in junior school and the last one, I think I was 8 or 9, my mum missed. Kept telling me off for scratching, I kept protesting I was itchy, but weeks went by before she thought to check my head! It was really bad, my skin was flaking away and covered in spots and I was thick with eggs. My mum was embarrassed, but kept accusing me of not telling her about it! I hope I stay lucky with my children, but it really all is down to luck.

I have 3 boys - the youngest is now 20. None of them have ever had nits or threadworms.

DollyKoo · 31/01/2017 18:55

My first nits / worms were as a newly qualified teacher!

That year I also got measles (first I found out that I had no vax!), oh and slapped cheek and hand foot and mouth not long after.

Danglybits · 31/01/2017 18:57

My eldest got nits for the first time recently -- at age 14.

Your time will come Grin

Danglybits · 31/01/2017 19:00

Loads of worms though. I blame the thumb suckers. I had the itchy ring myself

Salmotrutta · 31/01/2017 19:50

Mine never caught head lice or worms either.

But I suspect that was just pure luck.

In fact I don't remember there even being an outbreak of lice at the school when mine went - maybe we hit the golden era when lice hadn't built up resistance to the treatment yet? Confused

FlouncingInAWinterWonderland · 31/01/2017 19:53

One of my three had worms, no nits yet. I am now scratching though reading thisGrin

HelenaGWells · 31/01/2017 19:55

I was going to say with one at preschool don't get too cocky. DS has only ever had nits about twice in his life but my girls had them LOTS when younger. It's totally random. Just don't get complacent. Check them if they start scratching. It's not rocket science.

Meluamelua · 31/01/2017 19:59

Haha not cocky nor stealth boasting!! Just worried being absent minded crap mum!! Glad to hear signs are obvious. I'll be waiting Grin

Dm would have said the same.

However I definitely had threadworms several times, but was too scared to say. I thought I had a tapeworm as it was the only one I'd heard of and was scared.

Only when my dc had them I realised.

The only one of us that caught nits was my dbro- me and dsis had long hair, he didn't.

Meluamelua · 31/01/2017 20:02

Oh good lord I'm so sorry - too scared to say? Flowers
I'm guessing more to it than missed thread worms?

Your kids aren't very hospitable OP; you should teach them to be more amenable to guests Grin
