OH goes to a bootcamp 4X times a week, same time as bedtime of our two dc . Unfortunately for the last month of so ds2 will settle in minutes for OH but takes an age for me-30-50 mins, depending. Meanwhile ds1 (4.5) is waiting for me (not great to go to sleep alone and likes a bit of a chat before sleep etc which imo is important part of day).

So given that we're up 5.30ish most days and I'm wrecked (and both school often over tired because of delay at bedtime) by 7pm, aibu to have suggested a different time is needed for these sessions, literally any other time? I just think it's a bit much. Apparently there are absolutely no alternate times and there seems to be no understanding of where I'm coming from. I suggested it calmly and pointed oh that it's not up to me to come up with an alternative but surely he can see it's not working.

Yanbu and that's a lot of nights to be out, very unfair on you.

DS2 won't be difficult for you forever, I'm just leaving that phase with DD2 similar age and she's sure there's still milk at bedtime. Your DH needs to be around more at the moment.

There us no way I would agree to this. His personal choices shouldn't impact family life so much. He should reschedule or rethink his exercise. Go running instead. Why do his needs come first

Littlemisschocolate · 30/01/2017 21:53

YANBU. He doesn't need to go to boot camp at all. He just needs to get his trainers on and go for a run - which could be done at any time. He wants to go, but you can't do everything you want when you have children.

Later bed times then? When he's back from boot camp?
I know all dc are different, but both mine went the same length of time asleep regardless if when put down. So 6pm to 6am, or 8.30pm to 8.30am. I chose the latter cos it worked better for us.

mikado1 · 31/01/2017 12:58

Oh that would be brilliant - mine are the opposite- wake up at the same time despite bedtime so 7-5, 8-5, you get the picture. Ds1 sleeps longer of course but 6/6.30 v normal.

Anyway he's said he'll cut it to two nights, sometimes three. Tbh a month of it has been enough for me, it's such a drag at end of a pretty full on day.
