To be annoyed by constant nappy explosions

DS is 4 months and generally a very happy little boy. But pretty much EVERY fucking day I have to deal with a poosplosion (2 today lucky me).

It wouldn't be such a pain but it goes through his clothes onto whatever he's sitting on and I end up with a home smeared in shit.

I've tried every nappy (pampers, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and boots) and have the same problem with all of them. I went up a size and that hasn't helped either.

He doesn't have any apparent issue with milk (although he is very sicky but gp is adamant it's not reflux). He sleeps really well and doesn't cry much so I don't think he's uncomfortable.

Does anyone else have/had this problem? And is there anything that can help prevent it?

Ok, I've bought a reusable nappy wrap so hopefully that'll help contain it. And I will try and exchange the nappies for a size up.

Although he did explode on MILs lap this afternoon which was rather amusing (it's usually mine, got to look at the bright side) Grin

I 3rd or 4th reusable. With DD1 no disposable contained the poo but I've never had a cloth leak. DD2 is only a couple of weeks old so too small for my cloth nappies but I can't wait till she's bigger and out of disposables.

I used plastic pants over dsd's nappy to minimize the explosions. Not sure if they're still available

Not sure if anyone else has said this but we not only went up a size and to the plus ones the entire time DD was in nappies but we found certain pampers ones always leaked. Strangely the active fit were completely useless but the baby dry ones were fine and rarely had any leaks. Hope you manage to resolve it

Duct tape.....

With DS2 I used bamboo nappies with wraps. Nothing ever escaped. The only leaks I ever had were from disopsables.

Stains from breast milk poo will disappear in UV light. In the summer, a couple of hours of sun got rid of them completely. At this time of the year it can take a few days on the washing line, but it's better than binning clothes.

YY to vests down over the body.

Sadly I hadn't discovered reusables with DS1 who was unfortunately afflicted with food allergies and intolerances. From weaning until he was about 2, nearly every single poo blasted from his knees to his neck. We had to lend the baby bath to nursery for washing him down. Every poo at home resulted in a shower as otherwise it would have been half a pack of wet wipes.

Another great discovery was Cheeky Wipes which are little washable flannels. 3 or 4 would get it scraped off and him polished off rather than wet wipes spreading it around.

YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE WITH YOUR VEST REMOVAL REVELATIONS.

Seriously. Thank you. From me, and my oft-yellow-streaked DS

We had almost zero poo-up-the-back incidents with reusables. Give them a go.

Same revelation with washable wipes - seriously I think our CM used to eat wipes when we sent disposable wipes packets.

DH discovered the vest removal technique on his own for the very odd incident (and I have to say you DO get leg leaks with reusables and it helps with that, plus if we were using disposables).

If you can say what kind of build/size your DS is and what your washing situation is we can probably recommend some reuseables but my favourite for smaller babies (and pretty reasonably priced) are sized Little Lamb pockets. Sized means that you use size 1 now and then move up to size 2 (and possibly size 3), pockets means that they have an absorbent bit that you put back in after washing them so they dry a bit more quickly as the two parts dry separately. The Little Lambs have a gusset around the legs which minimises leg leaks and they do up with poppers (not everyone likes poppers but they don't get fluffy in the wash!)
