I reeeeeeeally want it for my DS2. It's got everything he & we want but it's £899 and I'm struggling to part with my money.

AIBU and is that absolutely fine? Or ridiculous? I'm sure my own solid oak king size was only £200 & it's pretty gorgeous.

kidsfuntimebeds.co.uk/

That's where I got it from, they even offer payment plans. I can't fault them at all x

Tiggles · 23/01/2017 10:00

We got similar beds from this company fora lot less than that. Like you I needed proper 'steps' rather than a ladder.
The instructions weren't 100% brilliant but the finished bed is fab!

llangennith · 23/01/2017 10:01

queenc81 that link is brilliant! Don't need a bed but had to take a look anywayGrin Great beds at normal prices.

www.mdf-makingdreamsfun.co.uk

They make custom made furniture and would probably be somewhat cheaper.

NannyR · 23/01/2017 10:16

this ikea hack might work out a bit cheaper for something similar.

cherrycrumblecustard · 23/01/2017 10:17

That's 2 beds and drawers and stuff isn't it?

ChasingAPinkBall · 23/01/2017 10:59

We've got a similar bed for a similar cost but MIL paid for it!
It's very well made and sturdy and the one we have has built in shelves under the steps which store a suprising amount of stuff.
I wouldn't have paid that much myself tbh, we've got other stuff I'd want to spend that sort of money on but if you have the money and want a sturdy well made product then I'd recommend them.

Nanasueathome · 23/01/2017 11:02

I like it

Niskayuna · 23/01/2017 12:01

I like cabin beds.

So I spent £200 on one. It's great. Bookcase, wardrobe, couple of box shelves, desk. All included. Free delivery.

Because I googled for a better price.

£900 for a bed is obscene. A quick google around cheaper sites is simple to do.

MumsGoneToIceland · 23/01/2017 12:22

Are these steps chunky enough?

PickAChew · 23/01/2017 12:31

It's definitely not £900 gorgeous!

And I suspect it will look pretty badly bashed after a couple of years. Painted furniture never stays nice. You could get a stompa mid sleeper bed, plus slide under desk or shelves for less than that or a really sturdy Thuka bed for even less.

Funnyface1 · 23/01/2017 13:04

I don't think it's too much to pay for the right bed, but I don't think that bed is very special at all. I got my son something very similar from toys r us for £250. I would shop around, think you can do better.

TheInternetIsForPorn · 23/01/2017 13:05

I was looking at that exact bed and had the same reaction. Have you tried mrsflatpack.com?

se22mother · 23/01/2017 13:06

I think dd's bed was 900, but reduced to 600 in sale about 3 years ago. A high sleeper from Aspace. It has been worth every penny as it has transformed her sleeping habits.

YesAnastasia · 23/01/2017 16:25

£900 for a bed is obscene. A quick google around cheaper sites is simple to do. Oh but Niskayuna it bloody isn't.

This is all I have found with our requirements. I have found some (not that much cheaper when it's all added up) that are very low or bunks or full cabin with no crawl/play space but nothing with everything we all want.

Funtimebeds comes to nearly £700 and it doesn't have what we want & (although very cool & sturdy looking) they look a bit oppressive.

I wish he's say yes to the Kidspace Milo Foo I really do :(

On the mdf - making dreams fun that bed is custom made and cost £400. They have a page on Facebook you could easily get something similar that you want for much cheaper than £900.

We got this for DD, she's 5, and she loves it. Plenty of room underneath and the steps are proper steps like on a ladder, not those awful tiny/thin rungs you get on some beds that hurt your feet!

Not sure if this would be suitable though - good luck finding something reasonably priced Smile

FooFighter99 · 23/01/2017 16:45

We got the pink fairy version (of course!) haha

What about buying one of the other mid sleepers and paying a joiner to build a nice solid staircase? I've had a lot of woodwork done recently and I would guess they could put that staircase together in a day.
Bed frame + materials + joiner possibly
Still well under £900?
