To wash DS 3 times a week

I imagine I will get some differing views but wonder if I am being completely unreasonable. I wash DS (6 months) 3 times a week and have done since he was newborn - the days can be moved around to suit a special day out or the inevitable poonami that wetwipes just will not handle. He is topped and tailed every day in any event. I recently went to a party (babies/children invited) and the host offered use of her bath for DS. I declined saying I had bathed him this morning and he was fine now for a couple of days. She was Shock and I felt I had to explain myself. I said that I had experience via my cousins children that too much washing can be bad for LO's skin and I may? have read this somewhere. She was of the opinion that babies should be bathed every day as part of their night-time routine. Should I bathe him more regularly? He has at least 2 changes of clothes per day but I now feel like I have a dirty child Sad

Sometimes I only wash his hair once/twice a week. Blush

It really is a modern thing to bath as often as we do isn't it?

I remember back in the 80s we all bathed in a Sunday, in the same water....
It was always the best to go last, the bath was full and deep (of murky dirty water... Blurgh)

Nowadays its Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday as set bath days with added baths if DD gets dirty from whatever.

My 4 and 2 year old get 3 a week, 2yo hates baths and it makes him hysterical so certainly not a good way to wind down for bed! 4yo has bad eczema. They're both tidy eaters and have hands and face washed each night, they're not dirty!

My DS was in a leg cast for a few weeks when he was v young so we never got into a bed bath routine. So he now has a bath every other night which works really well for us. I think best to not overwash babies and toddlers as germs are good!

Tbf though just because people used to bath less often doesn't make it nice.

Baths and showers are lovely, they warm you up when it's cold, cool you down when it's hot, makes you feel fresh as a daisy.

No harm whatsoever in a quick dunk in water every day. I wouldn't use lots of soaps and lotions all the time but unless you've got a skin condition, water won't do any harm.

I don't have kids, but really how dirty or smelly can a baby get, apart from their hands, faces and bums? They're hardly working as car mechanics or running marathons, are they?!

Always bathed mine every day. Found it relaxed him before bed. But yes, sensitive skin etc may call for fewer baths per week. Do whatever you are comfortable with. It's fine.
