When they can easily afford to buy it. I am not talking about those that can't afford to buy them. The NHS has limited funds, surely those who are better off should show some social responsibility and buy their own medicines, freeing up essential funds - not brag about what they managed to get free

But when I was at our GP last, there was mum getting paracetamol and ibuprofen for her child with an ear infection, then went out and drove off in her Range Rover

I don't see the relevance of what vehicle she drives? Hmm She was getting it for her child. She is entitled to get it for free. Why should she have to pay just because she drives a Range Rover?

Moll that's why it's such a wonderful service! There are so many hidden extra charges when you're receiving treatment (ulcers, heartburn, nausea etc)

It does also protect the immunocompromised patients from exposure to other ill people at surgeries.

The poster who mentioned someone in a Range Rover - yes she may have been driving a big car, but she may well have not had a penny in her purse at the time.

The service is invaluable for children and is intended to free up GP appointments - pharmacists are incredibly knowledgeable about many minor ailments.
