Has anyone managed to loose a lot of weight?

Has anyone on here managed to loose a substantial amount of weight (5stone or more) and keep it off?

I realised earlier that I don't know anyone in real life who has done this. Most of my overweight friends (any myself) are still overweight despite years of trying to change and the rare 1 or 2 that have managed to loose weight always seem to end up gaining it back again.

I also see a lot of posts on here saying for example 'I lost 6st with slimming world 5 years ago but most of it has come back on again'

So am I being unreasonable to think it can't be done?

If you have done it how did you loose weight and how did you make sure you didn't gain it back again?

I know no people who have lost weight with slimming world that have kept the weight off long term and don't have "issues" with food.

Phyllis - I read somewhere last year that all 'the throw your scales away, don't weigh yourself every day' has now changed and the new thinking was that people who do weigh themselves every morning were in touch with little fluctuations and more likely to deal with it on small scale rather than letting it spiral out of control and having to resort to drastic weight loss.

I lost 8 stone. Went from 16 stone to 8 stone when I was about 21. Kept it off with a gym regime until I got pregnant at age 32. Let myself go. Probably have 3 stone to lose after second baby. Baby is 12 weeks. First time back at the gym tonight. I think I'm DYING.

Me Grin I lost my weight (5 1/2st) 17 years ago. I did this with sw whilst bf ds. It didn't work long term for my dsis who lost weight around the same time and was a tiny size 6/8 and exercised +++ she is now bigger than she was to start off with.

Over the years I have kept it off apart from one period after moving abroad, but after giving my head a wobble I sorted this out.

I now calorie count, keep a diary of my intake (mfp) and walk lots. The only thing that gets me down if I over think it is the excess skin I will always have. I also look at photos of me at my heaviest to remind of me of how I was.

My weight is constantly yoyo-ing, however, I did manage to lose 40lb a few years ago but put most of it back on after my pregnancy.
I'm currently trying to lose weight again. Just wondered if anyone with large weight loss, has had any problems with loose skin?
