To think James Middleton's marshmallows are doomed?

A friend (cough, cough) was reading in the Daily Mail that James Middleton is still trying to save his marshmallow business. If anyone doesn't know, they print out Instagram pictures onto marshmallows and sell them for 15 pounds for a box of 9.

They're marshmallows, sugar and gelatin. Who in their right mind would pay 15 pounds for 9 of them, even if they do have a photo on them?

I don't know why I'm so interested by the way. There is just something so WTF about the whole thing.

Apparently he already lost 1 million pounds through them. Does no one sit him down and say dude, it just isn't a good idea?

Kate with the help of old 'doors to manual' was absolutely determined to snare Prince William, even going to the lengths of changing universities when she found out which one he would be at!

Come on now, do we actually "know" that? Or is it just rumour that's become fact? Even if she tried to snare him, she isn't Paul McKenna - he'd have to fall in love with her, which he clearly did!

LadyOrangutan · 17/01/2017 12:15

Wow, this thread is really nasty.
Personal attacks on people that you don't know because you don't see the appeal of their business.
Have you nothing else to worry about?

Manumission · 17/01/2017 12:17

"Really nasty"? Really? Is it?

It reads like a bit of meandering old mish-mash of differing views to me.

BillSykesDog · 17/01/2017 12:23

Have you nothing else to worry about?

Well obviously not because we wouldn't be dicking around on MN talking about marshmallows if we had seriously ill children or were stuck in Aleppo would we?

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 17/01/2017 12:33

Well for me the biggest revelation is that you can get different flavoured marshmallows. Who knew?

Trainspotting1984 · 17/01/2017 12:34

I think they're a fine idea in themselves. The problem is they aren't a whole business, they should just be one in a range of products. Who can make a whole business out of one novelty product?

Cosmicglitterpug · 17/01/2017 12:37

Have you nothing else to worry about?

Can't say that I have, no.

I agree Private Pike, it's stupid and snobbish. Say what you like about her kids, but you can't deny that Carole Middleton hasn't worked hard for her money.

SleepFreeZone · 17/01/2017 12:42

'Dicking around' has made me snigger 🙊

StartledByHisFurryShorts · 17/01/2017 12:43

Have you nothing else to worry about?ave you nothing else to worry about?

I have ridiculous amounts of things to worry about. Real life-fucking-up things.

So I'm quite enjoying pondering the advisibility of an overpriced novelty marshmallow business. It's fun.

I've started worrying about all the things I have to worry about now Sad

CaoNiMa · 17/01/2017 13:04

This is a blood brilliant thread. Long may it reign, as it were...

CaoNiMa · 17/01/2017 13:06

*bloody

noblegiraffe · 17/01/2017 13:10

Party Pieces is pretty good, tbh, and obviously Carole is an experienced and successful businesswoman.

Pity James hasn't followed in her footsteps.

LadyOrangutan · 17/01/2017 13:29

I didn't "harangue" anyone PrivatePike. And when posters are saying that they hope the business fails, for no valid reason, I wouldn't consider that to be a good natured, funny discussion at all.

But I do agree with your thoughts on "doors to manual", very annoying!

DMnamechanger · 17/01/2017 13:30

I also don't get the hate for Carole Middleton.

Her children cop flack for "never having had a proper job".

She cops flack for "having had a 'proper' job". Confused

I also laugh at the idea that she schemed to have her eldest marry Prince William. As if any of us could have come up with and executed that 'plan', but Kate got the guy because we were all above being so calculating GrinGrin

SamanthaBrique · 17/01/2017 13:34

Yes, that's very odd. Kate could hardly force him to fall in love with her!

I absolutely love Carole Middleton. Top respect to her for being a self made woman coming from almost nothing to being able to send her kids to Marlborough. But it mistfys me why she would be happy with three children who have achieved nothing aside from marriages.

I do wonder if after a few too many egg nogs at Christmas she turns round to Kate and says: 'Look at you with your bouncy hair, I might have had frizzy hair at your age BUT I'D MADE MY FIRST MILLION you Brazilian blow dried layabout'.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/01/2017 14:08

But through history selfmade people have wanted their sons to be gentlemen. What about Thomas Cromwell and Gregory?

everythingis · 17/01/2017 14:09

Doors to manual is apparently what all the entitled yah girls also chasing prince w back in the day called KM. I like to think mners are a bit more witty and original than that Wink

everythingis · 17/01/2017 14:10

Train spotting - that's what I thought - if you could order them from the Clintons website or some such the marshmallows might be a goer

BillSykesDog · 17/01/2017 14:11

I suppose so countess. And there's no denying PW got the right girl for the job. There's never going to be any scandal or making of waves from that one.
