Manager frisked me in public without my consent?

I work in care. We are allowed cell phones in our pockets as long as they are on silent and not taken out on the floor.

There have been some abuses to this so manager sent an email out to everyone, fine.

The other day whilst I was on the floor working, manager approached me and another colleague and said "Let me feel your pockets." She then got very close and started to feel the pockets on my tunic for an uncomfortably long time. She felt my phone in one pocket and touched it for a while saying, "Is that a phone?" I didn't respond or look at her as I was shocked this was happening and embarrassed. She then said, "You saw my email. I don't mind if you have your phones on you, but keep them on silent."

Why the hell did she frisk me then? WIBU to confront her on my next shift and tell her it made me uncomfortable and shouldn't happen again?

That sounds really weird and unnecessary. I would raise it with her if you feel comfortable, yes.

Unbelievable! I would tell her it's unacceptable and if she does it again you will report her for assault. Is she a nurse? If she is report her to the NMC.

She's not a nurse, I don't think. I didn't want to report her as tbqh she does a lot of silly stuff without thinking, so I don't think this was malicious but just very ill-thought out. The thought of confronting her makes me ill though. But I don't want her to think this is OK.

You really need to mention it. Take someone with you if it helps. It's not on to come up to someone and physically tough them like that. She made you uncomfortable and that's not right. She might not even realise and be mortified?

Does she have a manager you could raise it with?

Possible sexual assault? At very least there is an assault here, she did not have your permission to search you, and she had no legal authority to do so.
