Best Blue Peter Presenter of all time... Wink

  1. Konnie Huq
  2. Richard Bacon
  3. John Noakes

Now I like Konnie, I do. But Charlie Brooker tweeting to his million twitter followers didn't give Shep a chance dammit!
And whilst Richard Bacon's twitter feed made me laugh. John Noakes folks! Guy was a legend.
On a sadder note he has Alzheimer's so won't give a shit. But BluePetergate #Shepwuzrobbed
Best Blue Blue Peter presenter would be Peter "it wasn't porn it was a psychological thriller you heathens" Duncan surely, I'd give him a Tumble.

Just googled to make sureness I've got the right person and yes I have, he's from my home town.
Maybe he was having a bad day but he was opening an event my father had organised and he was very grumpy , he also told my friend ( who was about 14) that she should shave her legs!!
He said that if anyone asked him about " that bloody elephant " he was off..
To be fair he is from Yorkshire and the gruff sense of humour can be lost in translation

pocketsaviour · 15/01/2017 12:31

I loved John Noakes and Shep, and yes Go With Noakes was amazing. I can still remember clearly an episode about thatched roofs, and one where he was in a hot air balloon. Also introduced me to the wonder that is "On Ilkley Moor B'Aht At" Grin

hidingwithwine · 15/01/2017 12:34

I thought the same OP - I'd have gone

John Noakes
Peter Purvis
Lesley Judd

Canny beat a 70's childhood! Loved watching Blue Peter after we got in for school nostalgia

hidingwithwine · 15/01/2017 12:34

from school

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/01/2017 12:36

I was the biggest Blue Peter fan ! I nearly wet myself with joy when I received a roll of sticky backed plastic for my birthday Grin

DimsieMaitland · 15/01/2017 12:39

My Blue Peter claim to fame: when I was a student I knew a fellow student whose Guide Dog was a direct descendant of Goldie.

TSSDNCOP · 15/01/2017 13:04

Isn't there a fab but where Noakes was abseiling down something like the Post Office tower and shitting himself.

SImon Groom can fuck off with his farm, so fucking DULL.

And Swap Shop was better than Tiswas.

Grange Hill was best of all though. If I tutted my mum blamed Trish Yeates!!

It was Nelsons Column WITHOUT A ROPE!!

And he's as cool as a cucumber.

Florabella · 15/01/2017 13:09

I met John Noakes when I was a child and he was rude and grumpy! I was very disappointed

Datun · 15/01/2017 13:11

get down shep

Grin
OddBoots · 15/01/2017 13:41

Oh, it would have been Peter Duncan all the way for me - but I think it is very dependant on our ages.

ForalltheSaints · 15/01/2017 14:45

I thought John Noakes was unfairly treated when he appeared on a show after he had left Blue Peter and just after Shep died.

Presenting Blue Peter in an age when there were no video games, no catch up tv, no autocue and only 3 tv channels (and with Biddy Baxter as editor who was a dictator by all accounts) is very different from in Konnie Huq's day. I don't think the two can be compared.

Gatekeeper · 15/01/2017 14:51

loved John Noakes, Peter Purves, Val Singleton and Lesley Judd

I recall Simon Groom doing the infamous ' beautiful pair of knockers' arf and also Duncan Thingy wearing the white and green zoot suit designed by a viewer

zukiecat · 15/01/2017 15:51

John Noakes would have got my vote too, I loved Blue Peter as a child, and I'd take Swap Shop over Tiswas any day!

My DC would vote for either Liz (can't remember her surname) or her fellow presenter Matt Baker, I liked Matt too until I saw him being vile to Zoe Salmon and making her cry

getdownshep · 15/01/2017 15:55

Big fan here Smile I would have voted if I knew about it and had twitter!
I wasn't allowed to watch Tiswas as my dm thought itv was common!

BackforGood · 15/01/2017 16:04

Didn't know anything about the poll before opening this thread, but I think it clearly should have been John Noakes and Shep as number one. I guess whoever were 2nd and 3rd would depend on your age (bit like the best Dr Who or the best James Bond), but John Noakes surely stood out from the crowd.

I've often wondered why they never got nominated for any MBEs, CBEs, OBE, knighthood type awards, when you see the list and have to say "Who??" or "What have they done?" about some of the awardees. I mean, I'm not convinced people should get Queens honours for 'being famous', but, whilst they do hand them out, then surely John Noakes should have been right up there as a nominee.

Mrsmorton · 15/01/2017 16:06

Sticky backed plastic is just sellotape... yes?

I never knew what it was so never tried to make anything but now I think I could probably have made an attempt at Tracey island...

Mrsmorton · 15/01/2017 16:08

Oh, or is it actually fablon? In which case I'd never have managed to make anything as it would have lost its stick because of dog hair and my parents wouldn't have bought it anyway

Mrsmorton · 15/01/2017 16:10

Just googled it. The jury is out...

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/01/2017 16:13

Sticky backed plastic - it came in all different colours and patterns

HobbitTankard · 15/01/2017 16:32

Konnie Huq?

Gobsmacked.

BackforGood · 15/01/2017 16:38

No, sticky backed plastic is what we used to cover things in before laminators were invented. You had big rolls of it (like wrapping paper, but much thicker rolls) if you were a teacher.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/01/2017 16:42

This is what I know as sticky backed plastic

To think John Noakes and Shep were robbed?!
tessiebear4 · 15/01/2017 16:43

Caron Keating was the best presenter ever

bigTillyMint · 15/01/2017 16:44

Oh yes, John Noakes and Shep, definitely!

Peter Duncan second.

Helen Skelton third.

Peter Purvis was dull and Val was too naice. Lesley Judd was meh. Janet Ellis was sickly sweet.

No idea who Richard Bacon and Konnie Huq are.

I loved it. My DC did not - I think it belonged in the 60's, 70's and 80's Sad
