I am allowed a lie in this morning. Unfortunately due to never being allowed a lie in I'm already awake. I really want a cup of tea and then I can watch some tv in bed. However if I go downstairs the kids will see me and start hanging off my legs because I'm the favourite of course AIBU to ask dp to bring me a cup of tea?? Or should I brace it and go down and sneak back up

i'd call oh and ask. i often bring him a brew when he's having his lie in.

I text DH in situations like this for tea and toast...... DC are older now so we don't have regular lie ins but on occasion so we try to make it as pleasurable as we can for the lying in person

Yep message DP is what I would do. Whenever I try to get a lie in I can't because DC shouts for me until I get up!

Ask him! Dh lies in on a Saturday and I bring him tea and breakfast. It's my turn on Sunday's and he does the same for me. I'm now enjoying a bath while he deals with shrieking children.

I never get a lie in . My DH always refuses. (Well, except on my birthday, but even that one didn't happen this year )

I very rarely get one either. I cherish it when I do. But as I rarely get one I'm always awake at the crack of dawn regardless

I rarely move before my husband has provided a mug of tea. I think he needs to bring me tea each morning to prove to himself what a good husband he is. I tolerate this to be kind.

I believe one of the key reasons for texts being invented was so you could request things from the other people in your home without having to shout or get up.

I feel very lucky, I get one pretty much every Sunday unless DH has been out the night before. And then when he hears me getting up, he'll make me a lovely coffee to come down to. Think I've got a good 'un there

I tend not to as dp works 6 days so I usually let him. I do think it should be more often though. Maybe when the kids get older

You should get lie ins every other week if you both work 6 days. It's not fair for only one partner to get a lie-in if you both work (and caring for children is work). It's not an equal relationship if only one gets to have a lie-in. Or do all the housework. Or all the caring and emotional Labour.

I don't work ft only pt but have a 20mo when not at work so sometimes feel like I never get any time off iyswim

We've had to switch to texts for announcements like "Dinner's ready!" and "Can you bring x y z down" because they've often got headphones on and my preferred method of bellowing up the stairs doesn't work any more!

I view it as the modern version of the bells that used to be tinkled when the masters of the house wanted something from their servants!!

Haha polly that will be me in years to come with my little ratbags. Saves shouting up the stairs though doesn't it.

I think if I was trying to lie in though and someone shoved a full breakfast at me I'd be cross !
