I am in charge of the food shop. It usually suits me fine, I do all of the cooking, mainly because I am alright at it and OH once tried to grill a chicken pie so we agreed he should just stay out of the kitchen as much as possible.

Today however I asked him what he would like from the shops and he said he would like "something to snack on. Healthy, easy to grab and eat on the go"

He refuses fruit.

What the hell is there that falls into that category?! I feel I should know this but my brain is mush today

(and yes, we do live in the 1950s Wink but ultimately the set up suits us usually and we have been together 15 yrs and I have only recently started to feel a bit stabby so that's something!)

Rice cakes. Lots and lots of rice cakes. And if he complains he can go and buy himself something nicer Grin

Oh fuck just ask him what he wants Hmm

I get that you shop and cook and that suits your fam, but ffs you are not a detective. If he wants you to pick something else up while you shop tell him to be bloody specific not give you a series of clues.

Or a bag of new potatoes

BeachyKeen · 14/01/2017 15:58

There is nothing wrong with doing the cooking yourself, but seriously, if you can trust the man to drive a car and dress himself, he should be able to figure out a stoveHmm

Tesco do boxes of pre cut veggie snacks (they are next to/with the boxes of pre cut fruit). Cant remember what is in them now, but certainly cherry tomatoes, and slices of cucumber and carrot.

Plain popcorn.

Scotch egg. Not very healthy at all really, but might be perceived to be "better" than chocolate or crisps. Ditto mini sausages.

Pretty much what you'd give to a DC or toddler for a snack . Seems to fall into the same category.

DeathStare · 14/01/2017 16:49

Just tell him that if he tells you specifically what he'd like you'll get it. But you're not a mind reader so if he doesn't tell you specifically he'll have to get his own snacks

A grilled chicken pie.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 15/01/2017 09:38

Depending on your disposable income tell him to Google 'grazeboxes' They aren't cheap but they post out lovely healthy snacks regularly. Some of my colleagues use them I'm very envious
