Friday night and shit takeaway

Maz2444466 · 13/01/2017 22:33

Just ordered takeaway as a treat, the crappest takeaway ever. Oil literally drowning the thing, it was a Japanese soup curry. No taste, just water, sesame oil with noodles and two prawns. Couldn't eat it. DH's was alright but I kept asking him if we could get a refund for mine as I had to throw it in the bin. He gets mad and says that I've been going on about the bloody refund for half an hour and he's been trying to work the website and now his food is stone cold, throws food in the bin and pours his beer down the sink and says let's not bother with our Friday night and that he's going to bed. AIBU to be pissed off that he reacted like this? I'm also pissed off he wasted the money spent his meal which was nice and a full bottle of corona!!

Japanese soup curry ?

TheWitTank · 13/01/2017 23:37

Another one siding with your DH. Why did phoning the takeaway company -an easy and quick task (unless you have a disability that would effect this of course) - involve a 'we'? Surely you could have called and dealt with it and not ruined his meal too?

RosaRosaRose · 13/01/2017 23:40

Sounds like you've had one of those shit Friday evenings, when everyone's tired after a long week. Expectations greater than reality. Don't sweat the small stuff. It'll be be better after a night's sleep.

Earlgreywithmilk · 13/01/2017 23:42

I think the op has left the building

Probably to make some toast..

PickledCauliflower · 13/01/2017 23:44

I've had some shit takeaways over the years. It's annoying, especially as it's a treat we want to look forward to, and then enjoy.
Rather than waste calories and endure it, i will bin it and then make something lovely - like cheese on toast. I don't bother asking for a refund, but never return and make sure all my friends and aquaintemces know how crap it was.

RosaRosaRose · 13/01/2017 23:50

Allthewaves where did it say he treated them both to a takeaway? Fair assumption, surely, that this was a joint account?

Maz2444466 · 13/01/2017 23:52

Lol, I like your honest responses. Ive made up with DH now and made him some dinner, going to watch Star Wars which is his fave. Thanks Mumsnetters, you don't mince your words! I'm off to have Wine now

Whilst I can see why the OP's DH was annoyed I think he behaved like a prick throwing his food and beer away. And yes OP could have sorted out the refund or whatever a bit later, but what's all this about the little woman being "treated" to a takeaway by her man Allthewaves?!

PickledCauliflower · 13/01/2017 23:54

I often thin that takeaways are overrated - I occasionally get a good one.
Bloody expensive too. I'm all for cheese on toast with lashings of wine instead.
Followed by a slice of fruit cake..

PickledCauliflower · 13/01/2017 23:54

Think 🤓

BurningBridges · 13/01/2017 23:54

Maz !! I'm glad you've sorted it but your DH had dinner and he chose to throw it away as you annoyed him! Hmm

RosaRosaRose · 13/01/2017 23:54

Enjoy Wine

AshesandDust · 13/01/2017 23:58

Japanese soup curry deserves to be crap.

HateSummer · 13/01/2017 23:58

You sound annoying.

BreconBeBuggered · 14/01/2017 00:00

OP and DH have made up now. Let's not make a drama out of a small end-of-week crisis here. And don't order soup as a takeaway next time, OP. Utter folly.

PickledCauliflower · 14/01/2017 00:00

Japanese soup curry does sound horrible really..

midsummabreak · 14/01/2017 00:04

Oh give her a break
Im sure Maz knows now to make the call herself
you evile woman Maz, ffs call next time will ya?!

Better still Maz could immediately return any future crap takeway
Maybe we all should take heed and taste test before going on yonder home with suspicious oily looking takeaway

PickledCauliflower · 14/01/2017 00:07

We were planning to order a takeaway the other night (spending a bloody fortune on takeaway pizza). I then realised that I just wanted a chip butty with ketchup and proper butter. We had that instead, it didnt take long to rustle up.
It was glorious!

AfroPuffs · 14/01/2017 00:10

Japanese soup curry is delicious...your local takeaway must be pretty bad to get that so very wrong.....

user1471545174 · 14/01/2017 00:13

Glad you took it well OP, you were BU Grin

Insomnibrat · 14/01/2017 00:13

See what happens when you stray away from half chips/half rice?
Divorce.

PyongyangKipperbang · 14/01/2017 00:43

I see it has been sorted, but I have to say that his tantrum was pathetic. Throwing his beer and dinner away and saying "Oh its all ruined" and going off in a huff?!

I would have made him bugger all!

RhiWrites · 14/01/2017 08:35

Neither of them exactly covered themselves in glory.

For future reference, if you don't like food contact the takeaway place before throwing it in the bin. They'll want to see it when they replace it.

When your food gets cold there's a handy gadget called a microwave you can use to heat it up. If you don't have one then ovens also work.

Pouring your beer down the sink in a temper tantrum is equally wasteful.

Empress13 · 14/01/2017 11:34

Sorry bit late to the table - excuse the pun!

Bloomin eck OP glad I don't go out for a meal with you !

Agree with others you should have phoned yourself - agree it's not the money but the principle you order food and expect it to be edible. Food establishments get away with murder these days serving shit food !

He did throw his toys out the pram tho haven't you got microwave to have heated his up and as fir throwing away the beer why couldn't he have drunk that whilst on website ??? Oh yes sorry forgot men can't multi task LOL
