To ask at what age your DC dropped their last daytime nap?

Just that really.

My 28 month old DD has not napped in the afternoon for the last two days. Although she's really tired by late afternoon and grumpy it has meant that she has slept until 7.30 am instead of her normal adorable wake up time of 5.30am!

Not sure whether to continue to push the naps or suck up the grumpy tired late afternoons until she gets used to it and enjoy the lie ins!

About 4.5 months....

Dementedswan · 10/01/2017 13:34

Dc1 was 4 and dc2 was 3.

CommunionHelp · 10/01/2017 13:36

DD1 2, DS nearly 4, DD2, about 8 months...

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 10/01/2017 13:36

I'd maybe institute 'quiet time' of say an hour after lunch. That's what my neighbour did when her twins dropped their last nap. They have books which are only for quiet time and they have to stay on their beds but they don't have to sleep. For the first few months they napped a few times per week and now they are at preschool they occasionally nap but mostly just look at their books.

terrythetrex · 10/01/2017 13:37

DS was 2.5, although he could have easily dropped it before that, he loved his afternoon nap we only stopped them as they were interfering with him going to bed.

Newhousenewname · 10/01/2017 13:37

DD is 27 months and over the past few weeks has pretty much dropped her nap. She gets tired and grumpy late afternoon but still goes to bed at 7 as usual. Unfortunately it hasn't resulted in later mornings, she's still up at 6ish.
I'd prefer if she did nap but there's no way she will if she doesn't want to. It means I struggle to do anything with her in the afternoon as she's not very tolerant Smile when tired.
Most of her little friends still nap, even the older ones.

DailyFail1 · 10/01/2017 13:38

9 months

CommunionHelp · 10/01/2017 13:38

By the way, how long do people go on saying months for? I haven't really heard anyone say 28 months old before! My DD is also two and hasn't napped properly for about a year. DOn't worry about days being different. I decided that young children have eating days, pooing days and sleeping days.

LivingOnTheDancefloor · 10/01/2017 13:40

Both at 2.9 (twins).
They now sleep from 7 to 7, which is 1-2h more than when they were napping.

MissCalamity · 10/01/2017 13:40

DD is 3 in April & doesn't tend to nap anymore. She had a nap the other day & didn't go to sleep until 10.30pm, which was a nightmare.
If she seems to need it I'll let her but I no longer force her to sleep.

TheGhostsOfPresidentsYetToCome · 10/01/2017 13:40

The day before his 2nd birthday

allowlsthinkalot · 10/01/2017 13:41

DC1 - 3.5 years
DC2 - 19 months
DC 3- 18 months
DC 4 - 15 months

MLGs · 10/01/2017 13:43

DS has been in the process of dropping it since September, i.e. he sometimes has a little nap and sometimes doesn't. He will be 3 in Feb.

DD dropped her daytime nap a bit before that, maybe at 2.5

YoHoHoandabottleofTequila · 10/01/2017 13:43

After 2 it sounds silly. I don't say DS is 29 months, he's 2.

He still naps. DC1 stopped naps at 2.6.

AllTheBabies · 10/01/2017 13:43

Dd1 stopped napping at 18 months. Dd2 is still napping twice a day at 12 months.

BitchQueen90 · 10/01/2017 13:43

DS was just after he started nursery at 2y3mo. He is 3 and a half now and sleeps 7pm-6.30am.

FATEdestiny · 10/01/2017 13:43

DC1 - 3.5y
DC2 - 3y
DC3 - 4.5y
DC4 is 28 months and currently sleeps 12h at night plus 12-3pm consistant nap.

Karoleann · 10/01/2017 13:44

All three of mine were 2.5.

DJBaggySmalls · 10/01/2017 13:45

18 months but he started again at 14 Grin

GieryFas · 10/01/2017 13:45

We changed it to quiet time around 3, though dd1 napped until she started school (and would have carried on, I think, given the chance). Dd2 gradually reduced until by 4 she was mostly not napping - though she would after a very busy morning or if she wasn't feeling well. I was happy if they were quietly in their room, playing or reading, as that way we all got a break and if they did need the sleep then they'd get it. I do have kids who need quite a lot of sleep in order to behave well, though, I know others who need much less.

Sukistjames · 10/01/2017 13:46

Goodness, what a varied lot of responses!

I was hoping to keep her napping for at least another year like I did with my DS but it seems like I may have to suck up the loss of free time to do stuff when she sleeps and try to get used to the grumpiness in the afternoons.

John, I like the idea of quiet time Smile

Communion, I thought I may BU for saying 28 months!

It depends what is being asked about. If someone asked how old dd was I'd say she was 2. If asked about an aspect of behaviour that will be very different at 2y0m than it would be ar 2y11m, then I'd either answer in just months or years plus months.

HardofCleaning · 10/01/2017 13:47

2.5 Y. He would have kept taking it but it got later and later and he didn't sleep at night until midnight. He got more sleep overall when he dropped it so it was the right choice.

WinterWinds001 · 10/01/2017 13:47

DS is 3 in a couple weeks and he has just recently started dropping the nap. He's perfectly content to not nap, and actually copes fine until normal bedtime. I make him have 'quiet time' every day when DD (13 months) naps in the afternoon, some days he sleeps others not. I'm clinging onto it for as long as possible though because I need a bloody break in the day to get shit done it's good for him to chill out a bit.

LoupGarou · 10/01/2017 13:47

About 10 months.
