To think PJ's is acceptable to wear at home

MrsAD86 · 10/01/2017 10:45

When DH, DS & I are home alone we will all just lounge about in PJ's or trackies.

If we're going out then we will of course get dressed but MIL was completely horrified when she called by unexpectedly at the weekend (she normally calls first to make sure we're in and it's a mad rush to dress everyone, haha) at 3pm to find us all still in our PJ's.

Does anyone really bother dressing up when they're just chilling out at home?

mouldy love, OP is talking about at home. That's what the words "at home" denote. Do simmer down before you rupture something important Grin

I'm always a tad surprised at how many people post things like the OP where they are just looking for everyone to agree. Then people disagree with it and it kicks off.

1,000 posts yesterday on one thread Shock

Yabu pj's are for wearing in super markets.

When people turn up without notice they have to take you as they find you.

I can't wear my pj's to do things round the house, once I'm up I'm usually dressed within the hour.
I wouldn't judge others.

Mil will have been brought up in the school of thought that you get up, dressed, and get on with your work for the day.
Lounging around in pj's would be seen as very lazy.
I think this is a more modern thing tbh, my parents and even my generation thought the same.

So whilst I wouldn't judge I can see how some would be surprised to see you in pjs in the afternoon.

Purplebluebird · 10/01/2017 11:17

I love my pyjamas, but I only sleep in my underwear, as I get too warm. I will wear pyjamas or comfy trousers when I'm just at home, though I get dressed if I know someone is coming round, or if I'm going out.

MrsAD86 · 10/01/2017 11:18

mouldycheesefan wow. DH works full time, I work 4 days and I'm talking about when you spend a day at home chilling out with your family. You sound like your reflecting your own issues.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta Ha, MIl is not of a delicate constitution, just judgemental, lol.

Yes maybe I should have had a look at the other posts on mn before posting, I'd only seen the one about eating dinner in a dressing gown.

Thanks for your replies everyone, we shall continue to lounge in comfortable clothes / pjs if we are at home, might draw the line at going shopping in them though! Haha.

MIL will no doubt call next time to avoid the horror! 😂

Do whatever you want - you were only seeking validation anyway so why post?

Search the millions of other PJ threads and you will get an idea of why people are getting royally fucked off with yet another thread Grin

I'm with Icemap. Currently at home in leggings and long shirt. I received a grocery delivery this morning at 8.30 and am waiting for a parcel delivery sometime today. Wouldn't feel comfortable answering the door to strangers in PJs. What I'm wearing serves the same purpose (stretchy, non fitted, casual) but does not look like I've just rolled out of bed.

sobeyondthehills · 10/01/2017 11:29

I suffer from depression, one of the things I have been doing is to make sure every morning I get dressed. I might do nothing else, but I have gotten dressed.

MrsJayy · 10/01/2017 11:29

I have to get dressed or my body thinks it is bed time my mum can kick about all morning in her pjs doing stuff before she gets dressed I just sit about on my lazy bum drinking coffee if im not dressed.

SirChenjin · 10/01/2017 11:29

I don't do it because a)I hate the thought of still being in sweaty bed clothes in the afternoon (night sweats, of the delights of the menopause) and b)I like to feel that my day has started by getting dressed. If someone else chooses to stay in their pjs then it's no skin off my nose. FFS get dressed if you're going to Tesco though.

Madinche1sea · 10/01/2017 11:30

Another pyjamadrama - WHY??

Elphame · 10/01/2017 11:31

What people wear in their own home is up to them.

I would never want to slob around in pjs but that's just me. I don't care one whit if anyone else does.

freemanbatch · 10/01/2017 11:34

My kids declare 'pyjama day' when what they mean is 'not leaving the house or dealing with other people day'. It only happens with my permission, if we're going out or we've things to do then they get dressed and we certainly don't answer the door in pyjamas.

whattodowiththepoo · 10/01/2017 11:35
