To get angry when vloggers advertise chocolate to parents and pretend it's healthy?!!

I know I'm probably really sad, but since having my baby, I've found myself watching mum vlogs a lot. Mainly out of curiosity, to see what other mums are doing and how they're coping. I've been following a few, in particular someone called Emma Bailey. I loved how real and honest she was, showing the hard times and the good times. But she's just posted an advert for cadbury chocolate, basically saying how great it is for kids to eat because it has milk in it. I mean, seriously?!! Chocolate is still full of sugar right?!
Is there nothing people won't do for a bit of cash these days?!! Jeeze Louise!!!
Ah, feels better to get that rant out.

This thread is very mean spirited.

You could have made the point without singling one person out.

There are a lot of vloggers doing the same thing. Selling the same nonsense. I watch vlogs but generally don't watch the blatant ads.

Live and let live fgs.

MrsJayy · 10/01/2017 19:47

The op pointed out a specific blog was claiming chocolate was good for children because of milk not mean spirited at all the op didnt realise these bloggers were sponsored and make some money or get freebies perfectly reasonable for posters to point it out.

toastymarshmallow · 10/01/2017 19:49

But to name her? One, out of thousands of vloggers?

No, it is mean spirited no matter what way you look at it.

Why shouldn't we discuss mum vloggers, even specifically named ones? They are putting their lives out there for all of the internet to see and critique.

GlitterNails · 11/01/2017 12:58

They do put #ad in the title though, so it's obvious it's an advert. So I'm not sure it's misleading? A lot of vloggers have given up jobs to do YouTube, and that will include some brand deals or advertising.

It's the business model. Build up a loyal audience, provide free content, then monetise. She's feeding her children chocolate

"Wow, I have a lot to learn!"

Yup :) They're not diary-writers like back in the early 00s. They're cheap advertising. They get paid for every person who buys the product via the links under their 'blog' post, and have to spend every minute humiliating themselves online by gurning next to a chocolate bar claiming it's healthy, spamming their social media and agreeing that all kinds of duff products are 'life changing'.

The ones who make millions are generally the very smart, very good looking ones who get bought up by marketing companies to by their 'face'. The rest make a few pennies from dark, grainy photos of cheese and razors.
