AIBU to not have a 'proper' skincare 'regime'?!

This is it:

Morning:

  • wash face in shower, then pat dry upon exit.

Evening:

  • Remove make up with a wet wipe (yes, an actual wet wipe of the nappy kind, not a fancy face wipe)
  • wash face and pat dry

Done.

Am I alone? I'm 35 and DM seems horrified not a 'toner' or 'night cream' in sight.....

bunty if you're not boil washing the hedgehog between each use then that's a really manky thing to do.

Birdsgottafly · 06/01/2017 22:13

Using a hedgehog would be cheaper than having a dermal roller treatment.

Since finishing the Menapause, I've found that I've had to get into a routine, but that doesn't mean expensive.

If what you are doing suits you, then stick with it.

TheNiffler · 06/01/2017 22:15

I do even less, my face gets wet in the shower, but I don't actively wash it. If I wear make up (v rare), I'll wash it off in the evening with whatever is handy, but I don't have any facewash products, so it would probably be a bit of shampoo Blush

I've never done any more than this, my skin is just fine provided it's left alone. I don't moisturise either.

TooMinty · 06/01/2017 22:21

The Niffler wins the skin neglect prize Wink (hedgehogs are an unnecessary luxury imho)

Daydream007 · 06/01/2017 22:21

I'm envious of your simple regime! I was riddled with terrible acne as a teenager and well into adulthood. As a result of this my regime consists of a double gentle cleanse, tone and moisturise and I exfoliate once a week. It's a rigid routine but it keeps my adult acne under control.

TheNiffler · 06/01/2017 22:37

Thanks TooMinty 😂

Mrsjudelaw66 · 06/01/2017 22:42

I am extremely lazy and don't have a regime. Morning, splash of cold water and a wipe over with a toner and cotton pad. Evening, make up off with whatever facial wipes I have to hand. Usually Asda essentials range and if I've run out, baby wipes. Sometimes use a night cream or eye cream but mostly can't be arsed. I have very oily skin with fairly smooth skin for my age. Old.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/01/2017 22:44

I suppose my hedgehog is a bit shamancy pants and decadent. I might swap him for an old jumper from a skip.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/01/2017 22:45

My face would fall off without moisturiser though!

JoyLibs · 06/01/2017 22:59

I think good skincare (which does not have to be expensive unless you want it to be) does help your skin look and age better. That being said, if you have good genes, then you're not going to notice much difference whether you have a routine or not. I've always had good skin, so most products (if they work at all) make a pretty subtle difference on me - it's the difference between good skin and perfect skin. Not necessary but fun all the same. Grin

Musicaltheatremum · 06/01/2017 23:11

I'm really lucky and have great skin. Inherited from mum and grandma. I'm 53. No spots for 30 years I am bad with my skin care because of this. I wear very little makeup a bottle of foundation lasts me a year.
So I think skin types are inherited and if you don't need to do anything dont worry

wurlycurly · 06/01/2017 23:20

I find most hedgehogs really harsh so use only baby hedgehogs

Deadsouls · 06/01/2017 23:23

I don't think YABU. It's up to you surely. I do however take care of my skin and always have.

GimmeeMoore · 06/01/2017 23:40

I'm fastidious. I have a day and night routine

AM cleanse, tone, moisturiser serum, day cream, foundation with spf,use a weekly mask
PM cleanse,tone,ANR serum,night moisturiser
Never sleep with makeup on

Mouse510 · 07/01/2017 08:36

My routine is pretty basic but I find it works best for me. I wash my face with water and a flannel morning and night and sometimes soap if I remember (either Dove or Simple). I used to be an oil of ulay girl but recently switched to Argan Oil and I think my skin is the better for it. The switch has also coincided with being PG so that could have had an influence on my skin too.

AmberEars · 07/01/2017 08:41

I cleanse, tone and moisturise properly whenever I wear make up.

But I rarely wear make up (say once or twice a month), and on the other days I just wash my face with water.

My skin is in good shape for my age (older than you OP!).

CoconutGal · 07/01/2017 08:49

That's my skincare routine & im 26! I don't think it's worth using all these fancy creams. My skin gets dry during the winter so I do use a moisturiser (Asda's own baby lotion Grin) does the job.

ChocolateRaisin · 07/01/2017 08:49

YANBU. However, I used to be a face wipe user, I now have a proper skin care routine and my skin is 100x better than it was.

TheWitTank · 07/01/2017 09:38

Lucky you -carry on if it works! If I could get away with it I genuinely would. Sadly, my skin looks like shite unless I have a proper routine, and only seems to react well to Liz Earle and Elemis Hmm. I've tried endless stuff over the years!

Ibloodyhatethomasthetankengine · 07/01/2017 09:59

Thanks all!

glad I'm not alone, but now I look closely and actually pay a bit of attention I wouldn't describe my skin as particularly great. I've just never thought about it. I mean, it's fine, but it could probably be a little better, although I guess my total lack of water-drinking probably has a bigger part to play.....I'll start there no see if I suddenly glow like a Middleton x

You're doing better than me.

I sleep in my make up
