To put my bin bags with my neighbours bins?

Today is first rubbish collection since Christmas so the council will take 2 additional bin bags along side standard grey rubbish bin.

We have very young twins and get no extra bin allowance, so it's one small grey bin which is collected every 2 weeks. The nappies alone fill this weekly.
I normally go to the top once a week with a bag but I've not been well.

We now have our bin on the kerb with 2 additional bin bags, but still have 2 extra bin bags.

Options are

  1. put them next to neighbours bin (they haven't put any extra bags out) they have already gone to work or I would have asked. I don't know my other neighbours.

  2. wait for my bin to be emptied then fill it straight back up and have no bin space for 2 more weeks

  3. ask the bin men very nicely

  4. just put them with mine (so 4 in total) and hope they don't mind

A bin lock is a good idea but wouldn't really help my mother as presumably the bin lock needs to be unlocked when you put the bin out to be emptied, which is when the problems are occurring. I suggested putting the bin out in the morning before collection but apparently collection is usually really early (5-6 a.m.) and my mother isn't filled with joy at having to get up at 5 a.m. and drag her bin down the drive just because some people have no manners/can't sort their own rubbish disposal out.

No the bin auto unlocks when it gets put upside down by the bin lorry.

Army it's a gravity bin lock she needs. Britishbins.co.uk sells them.
You unlock/lock with a key but when the bin gets turned upside down it unlocks then it relocks itself once back on the ground.

Thank you! That's brilliant. Will get one for her.
