To think that this role play has gone too far. (Light Hearted)

My two young children got a play shop for Christmas (2.5 year old DD and 18 month old DSyep they're close together- 13 months apart to be exact)
Anyway DD just asked DH to go and play shops with her, to which he replied:
"Shall we play 'Let's rob your shop?'
DD said yes please and now she's tidying up her shop waiting for her 6ft 7 father to descend on it.
AIBU to stop to this or shall I let it play out and see what happens? When DS takes things off DD he usually gets a whack for his troubles so that could be quite funny (watching DD defend her shop against DH)

I remember when I was a kid I was the annoying bossy one at school and at break times I would make children sit and play school with me and pretty much re- teach the previous lesson. Poor bastards

DD (5) and DS (7) have been role playing the 'lava pit' from Indiana Jones this afternoon. Taking it in turns to strap each other into the cage and then lower them down into the pit. I wasn't aware of any hearts being pulled out but then I was making a cheese fondue at the time. Better than them being glued to screens I suppose.

Sorry to be a misery - but I wouldn't role play robberies.

I've been in one myself and it wasn't pleasant. If you are role playing robberies threats have to be involved and theft.

I know the thread says it's lighthearted - but I don't think the subject is really.

When i was little mums aunt and uncle used to baby sit me. Massive (childlike )crush on uncle so i always wanted to play wedding. I was the bride in high heels and one of his white shirts,he was the groom,aunt was the "minister". I was so serious and into it one time that aunt started laughing till she peed herself.

Sorry to hear that pickled, that sounds awful and I'm sorry if it's brought back any horrible memories

I do think some role plays can grow arms and legs, if you know what I mean.

Exactly pickled. It's not appropriate for kids to be playing shops being "robbed" when it happens everyday and seriously affects people, what the hell is fun about that. It's a serious thing it wouldn't even cross my mind to suggest it to play with my kids. I just don't get it.

oh lighten up all those with the negative comments some people on here will pick holes in anything always someone popping up to piss on peoples chips.

DD used to.play "angry cafe owner" with me when she was 3. It involved me being a rude customer and her shouting at me for being difficult. It was hilarious. We played it a lot.

It sounds like a great game

When I was 9 or 10 my friends and I used to play "spies and baddies" in the playground and once the spies caught the bad guys they would torture them (not literally, obviously). We all took it in turns to be the spies and the baddies, so there was no animosity.

I wish I'd been as ruthless as some of the older siblings on this thread when I was younger as well.

I've been in an armed robbery during which I was alone for a prolonged period of time with two increasingly agitated, very large men in possession of weapons.

I am in no way offended or upset by a child playing at robbers.

I don't remember this but have been told many times by my sisters and parents

I am the youngest of 3 girls but I used to have them cleaning my room for me (they shared one as they were closer in age, I had the smallest one) with all sorts of games

I'm the mummy and you are my two girls...who conveniently haven't tidied 'their' room, so you have to tidy it while I make sure you do it right sit on the bed reading comics and telling them where to put stuff

I'm sick in hospital and this is my hospital bed, and you are my visitors and you have to help me do it tidy up to make me feel better

I'm a teacher and you are the girls in my class and you've made a big mess and have to tidy it all up before break time

Mum and dad dont know how I got away with it and neither do I! I might be the youngest but I definitely got the brains
