The breast is not considered fully mature until a woman gives birth and begins to produce milk (Love & Lindsey 1995).

And that breast tissue continues to grow until age 35.

Just read this on LLLI website.

My nipples are totally different to sis, ma, sis in laws and most others I've glimpsed on ladies who've been pregnant
Small, pale and immature- pregnancy hormones obviously cause changes

I'm higher risk for breast cancer too 😒

olderthanyouthink · 29/12/2016 23:51

Immature doesn't seem like the right word.

Your breasts change a lot during pregnancy to "recalibrate" for producing milk. It makes sense that they haven't each their full operating potential (so to speak) until they've gone that stage.

"Immature" does seem to confer a value judgement which is unhelpful and unnecessary though.

I think some of you are way over thinking the word immature.
