to be struggling to find enthusiasm for NYE?

We don't have any plans yet, and imagine at most it'll be dinner at home, but having spent the last few days mostly preparing food for family and doing the Christmas thing, I'm feeling a bit partied-out. OH wants to have 'a nice meal'.

Do I need a 'stop being miserable' kick in the arse?

On NYE, I'm usually tucked up in bed by 11pm with ear plugs firmly in!

I don't do New Year at all really.

Not being a party animal, I am generally relieved to get back to normality by then. Happy to curl up in a chair with a glass of wine and read a new book I got for Christmas.

I'm quite looking forward to it

The DC will be out, so it'll just be me and the cats

Still Game from tomorrow night to watch and then watch the fireworks from Edinburgh Castle Smile

I never do NYE anymore. They were all a bit rubbish. The last good one I had was the millennium... we get a takeaway delivered, lock the door behind the nice delivery man and watch a film. Last year I think I went to bed at 11.45 as I had a stinky cold, was freezing and just couldn't be arsed to stay up any longer! And it's normally rainy.

Op, you could get one of those naice 'meals for two' from M&S maybe... get DH to bung it in the oven then chill on the sofa!

we're going to be staying with a couple who were always 'party animals', and I've got a stinking cough and cold,so I'm hoping I can sneak off to bed at some time while checking on the kids, and they won't think to come and get me! If I was to announce I wanted to go to bed there would be a full scale campaign to get me to stay up!

I hate new year so never really do much, although in fairness have had some lovely times in the good old days past when I was younger.

It's my birthday on the 1st and I hate that too, it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing though - don't know if I hate NYE because it's my birthday the next day or hate my birthday because it's at NY. Either way I'm clearly a grumpy cow Grin

I'd say just do whatever makes you happy, and if that's nothing then so be it. But yy to being cooked for if you can!

DH and I aren't that into New Year either, I'm sure DS and his dp will be celebrating somewhere, they were with us for Christmas eve and day. Sometimes a friend has decided if she and her DP are at home, that they will have a small party, and while we've enjoyed it if we've gone, but we don't feel as if we are missing out if we aren't out or with others. If we can stay awake to watch Jools Holland we'll be doing well!

PlymouthMaid1 · 29/12/2016 21:58

Just a normal evening in here really. May have a drink and a bag of crisps and will open the door to !et the new year in and then bed by 1215 I hope.

I haven't done any partying Sad

Christmas day I was ill. I thought I would have to dial an ambulance Christmas night. Boxing day I was doing slightly better but still very poorly and well aware that I had to be at work the next morning.

I've been at work since.

I'm off NYE, NYD and the day after.

I've been invited to my parents for drinks and nibbles. My sisters will be there. I love them both dearly - seperately. When they are together by christ are they nasty.

There are birds, so many birds, oh so many birds. And a dog. A badly trained, yappy, snappy dog.

And kids. So many kids. Millions of kids. More kids than birds. I think between them my sisters are trying to spawn an army.

I just want to stay home and binge on netflix.

PumpkinPie2016 · 29/12/2016 22:13

I don't really rate NYE - never have, even as a teenager.

No idea why as I haven't had any bad experiences or anything but I've always thought it's over rated.

This year the couple next door are coming round. I'm making curry and we'll have a drink but that's it.

DS is only 3 so he'll be in bed long before midnight.
