I suspect I am. But We are going to the cinema around lunchtime and I will be hungry. I don't like nachos, popcorn or hotdogs or anything else like to be on offer and I have a fridge full of lovely things left from Christmas.

Am I wrong to be tempted to smuggle in a cheese and pickle sarnie?

I wouldn't want to sit next to you eating a sandwich and this is why I've stopped going to the cinema, I can't stand all the munching, chopping and stinky food!!!!
I went to the theatre a few months ago to see a musical, the group sitting next to us had brought a buffet that they noisily passed around and munched on throughout the first half!!!! Party bag of dorritos being crunched along to the music........................

NathanBarleyrocks · 29/12/2016 12:10

As long as it is food that no-one near you can hear you eat/open, I don't see any reason why not.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 29/12/2016 12:10

"our conscious mind knows it is just a story and knows not to leap into action but our subconscious is still a bit stressed. Eating soothes that stress".

People have no self-control any more.

NathanBarleyrocks · 29/12/2016 12:11

Although I never go to the cinema these days due 100% to other people's lack of consideration for those around them.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 29/12/2016 12:11

Films last way longer than 2 hours though.

Most films now are 2.5 - 3 hours. Then you have the adverts. Then the PA mini movie about not having your phone on. Then the trailers for other movies.

It's a 4 hour outing...

QueenLizIII · 29/12/2016 12:11

What I tend to do is wait at least 2-3 weeks after a film has been released to see it

That way it wont be packed out and you wont be elbow to elbow with someone chomping their way through the film.

allowlsthinkalot · 29/12/2016 12:12

At our cinema they check your bag for food!

QueenLizIII · 29/12/2016 12:12

It's a 4 hour outing...

Yeah and you can still eat before hand and take drinks in.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2016 12:14

I always bring my own bottle of drink to the cinema.

But I will never understand why some people can't seem to get through a 2 hour film, without eating various bloody foods.

Why can't you eat lunch before you go in?

TaliDiNozzo · 29/12/2016 12:14

Go for it. As long as the food isn't stinky or loud. I have ended up in the cinema with people eating a McDonald's and bacon before which both turn my stomach. Stinky food is very rude but as long as it's neutral I don't see the problem.

There is also a special place in hell reserved for people who use their phones during a film. That is far more distracting I find.

RegTheMonkey1 · 29/12/2016 12:15

Rarely go to the cinema these days because people seem to be unable to last what is a short period of time without eating and drinking, and you have to suffer their eating noises, wrapper noises, not to mention the smell!

PerspicaciaTick · 29/12/2016 12:17

Take what you like, so long as it is quiet and non-stinky.
The cinema-bought Nachos just make me want to vomit they smell so disgusting (and I like Nachos, just not stinking next to me for a couple of hours).

NathanBarleyrocks · 29/12/2016 12:18

I find the lighting up from idiots checking their phones far more irritating than smells from food. And other idiots that can't be silent for the duration of the film.

Rachel0Greep · 29/12/2016 12:18

I don't go very often. The second last time I was in the cinema, I was incredulous at the food that was being scoffed every side of me. It was quite a short film too. I don't eat in the cinema. OP, if you do bring food, try to have something non smelly, and quiet to open, and eat.

galaxygirl45 · 29/12/2016 12:19

I don't go to the cinema at all anymore for the very reason that people can't last 2 hours in there without eating!! As for the smell of those vile nachos or hot dogs, bleugh.

Beardsareweird · 29/12/2016 12:21

One of the reasons I no longer go the cinema is beacuse of all the noisy eating that goes on. How long is the film? I'm sure you won't die of starvation/dehydration if you don;t eat or drink for a couple of hours.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 29/12/2016 12:22

I went to the cinema yesterday and it was hell.
Chomping, rustling, smelly.

Can you not eat before or after the showing?
No one's ever starved from not eating in a cinema.

MargotMoon · 29/12/2016 12:23

Just make sure you don't wrap it in noisy foil!

DramaInPyjamas · 29/12/2016 12:23

Haven't been to the cinema in ages, but I went to a theatre production a few months ago and the couple beside me were munching their way through a bag of chicken pasties and steak bakes from Greggs

OMG the stink! - and the slurping! I was nearly in tears. (I do suffer slightly from misophonia though)

So please, if you HAVE to eat in enclosed places be conscious of the feelings of others around you.

ExcellentWorkThereMary · 29/12/2016 12:24

We buy snacks from Poundland next to the cinema. We've never had a problem taking them in. Now I've started SW I will probably take grapes and strawberries next time though - I do like something to munch on during a film! (yes! I am fat!)

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2016 12:26

I find the phones annoying too but they don't make the chomping, munching, slurping, smells and rustling any less annoying.

Being an old gimmer Grin I remember back in the day when they had an interval in the middle of the film, and the staff used to come around selling little pots of ice cream.

That was good because people just ate it and got on with the rest of the film.

Mind you that was back in the days when people were well 'ard and didn't die of malnutrition during a 2hr cinema trip.

Skittlesss · 29/12/2016 12:28

Metallicnails - why do you think she is fat? I'm fat and manage to not eat for a few hours.

PuntasticUsername · 29/12/2016 12:28

The first time I took DS1 to the cinema I forgot to brief him in advance about the whole taking-food-in situation. He walked in past the pick and mix counter going "BUT WE DON'T NEED ANY OF THOSE EXPENSIVE SWEETIES, DO WE MUMMY, BECAUSE WE BOUGHT OURS IN THE CHEAP SHOP DOWN THE ROAD AND PUT THEM IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR HANDBAG" while all the staff gave me the side-eye.
