To ask when you stopped using baby stuff

I know this should probably go somewhere else, but putting it here for the traffic.
DS is 2 in a couple of days (new years eve) and we still use his high chair for all his meals and baby monitor at night.
When are we meant to stop using this stuff? DS is our only child, so we've not had any experience of when to change things.
I'm only just weaning him off his dummy, so I don't want to throw too many changes at once.

Have never bothered with baby monitors, despite sleeping on a different floor to DC.
We stopped with highchairs for the first three at about 2 and a half. We still have a Tripp Trapp for the four year old but he rarely sits in it.
Cots were ditched at 14 months for DC1 and 2/2 and a half for the other three.
Pushchairs stopped being used regularly at 2.6 and completely by about 3.

DD is 3 and we still use a baby monitor as DH and I are both heavy sleepers and whilst our house isn't massive, it's big enough that we wouldn't necessarily hear her if we were downstairs.
She was quite resistant to going in the buggy as soon as she was walking, I don't think she's been in it since she was about 18 months. She hasn't been in her highchair since she was about 18months either but does have a little booster seat that straps onto dining chair/sits on a cushion depending on where we are.
She has been in a single bed since she decided to start launching herself out of her cot headfirst, I think she was nearly 2.
We still have a stairgate but only because we havent got around to taking it off yet.

I will add to my earlier post re monitor.

Our angelcare monitor started playing up a few weeks ago. Picking up another house and constant white noise. I tried all the solutions I could find online and nothing seemed to help. It fixed itself in a few days and stopped the noises completely (no idea what happened) but it definitely didn't sit well with me that I wouldn't have a monitor on his room if it had been broken and just conformed that I'm not ready to remove it yet (DS has just turned 4 at Xmas).

Go with your gut and what works for your family/child/home.

I have 5 boys aged 10, 8, nearly 6, 3.5 and 2.5.

DS's 4 and 5 still in nappies so still got the changing mat and table. Still using double buggy for DS4 and DS5. Stopped using sippy cups about a couple of months ago. Only had baby monitor for DS1. Cot was given away in November. Just got rid of the high chair. Still use muslins and bibs for DS4 and DS5. DS5 still in sleepsuits with feet. DS4 and DS5 still wearing vests with poppers underneath. DS3, DS4 and DS5 still using towels with hoods. DS4 ditched the bottles aged 14 months, DS5 never used them. Will probably have wipes in my bag for the rest of my life Grin.

Ds1 took sides off his cot at 20 months. Made things easier as we could sit next to him to get him to sleep. Changed to a full size single when he was 3.
Out of nappies at 2.5, he instigated it.
Ditched high chair by about 18 months, he's really tall and was like a 3 yr old by then. We used a booster seat for a while but he soon just sat up on a normal chair. Buggy again last used when he was 2.5. Was definitely in the shed by the time he turned 3. He is so tall and strong though and can walk for ages.

My daughter is nearly 8 years old and we still use a monitor!! She wouldn't get out of bed if there was a problem and we were downstairs as she is scared of the dark (even though lights on in the hallway!) and we wouldn't hear here otherwise. Same when we go to bed, her bedroom is the other side of the house and even with our bedroom door open I wouldn't hear her.. so horses for courses...

We never had a baby monitor as we can hear clearly enough through the floorboards or across the landing.

They transferred from cotbeds to singles at 2.

High chair to booster seats at about 18m as both were trying to launch themselves out. Booster seats recently stopped at 5 and 3 as they're getting tall enough to reach comfortably enough. They've managed when out for a long time.

Baby gate still in use for crowd control upstairs for the 3 yo at bedtime. The one downstairs came down at 18m as they were both competent on the stairs by then.

Buggy still in use. The 3 yo still naps a few times per week, which tends to clash against school pick-up. I'm beginning to get dead shoulders from pressure on them although the weight is ok. We're still doing holidays with a carrier as back-up but no buggy. I noticed DS1's stamina really improved at 5.

Most decisions have been quite spontaneous of giving something a try without much of a plan.

DS is 18mo and still in our Ikea high chair. We also have a Tripp Trapp style one to move him into as soon as we have space in the dinning room. It's height adjustable, so will last a while.

Stopped using the monitors very quickly as we can hear DS from downstairs. We have phone apps to monitor him if we're staying somewhere where we can't hear him so we'll.

Depends loads on whether the equipment is useful and safe to use with the size/weight/mobility of the child.

It varies from child to child.

My son is 4 now.
He stopped using his dummy shortly after he was 2.
He potty trained by his 3rd birthday.
He used a booster chair from approximately 1-3.5.
He stopped going in the pushchair just before his 4th birthday.
We stopped using a baby monitor around his 3rd birthday, but have just moved and soon our room will be on the 2nd floor and his on the 1st so I am going to re introduce the monitor.
It's all personal choice and what the child seems to work well with.
