that contains easy to make recipes using everyday ingredients that will satisfy a very fussy 6 year old, a 9 year old and two adults, preferably with lots of recipes using chicken, eggs, fish, pasta, potatoes. Really like the kind of recipes on the tasty/really tasty Facebook pages - can anyone recommend anything??

GimmeeMoore · 29/12/2016 22:38

Yes to delia, river cottage
Surprised at Jack Monroe recommendation i mainly thick if her as an activist, her cook book was predominantly the recipe she made on meagre means

I like the Hugh Farnley Whittonstall "Everyday" one.

The Good Food books are very good. And cheap.

They don't tend to be full of expensive ingredients either.

I like the One Pot one. Also Cheap Suppers.

londonrach - I love the dairy book too, nicked off my parents many years ago. it's still my go-to for basics, like pancakes, sauces etc.

Jack Monroe has great budget recipes, but personally I don't think that many of them are super child friendly - unless your child is really quite adventurous.

No book to recommend, but I second the BBC Good Food website tip - all their recipes are tested, and the comments are usually really useful too.

Oh I'm so annoyed with all of you. Was following the suggestions and put a load of the books recommended into my Amazon basket, all at reduced prices. Went back later to buy them and the prices are all mysteriously bumped up!! It can only be that lots of you had the same idea so Amazon put the prices up, can't see any other explanation. Ffs!

The Little Dishes book is great. Cheap, easy, healthy, not full of ingredient you can only get from an artisan deli...

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 30/12/2016 15:28

Hugh F-W three good things. Very easy and straight forward. I recommend sardines, garlic, olive oil.

Gordon Ramsay, Easy. It really is - got my dad cooking with it.

Fiona Beckett Beyond Baked Beans - its for students so easy/not over expensive but really good - I regularly recommend one of her chicken and lemon potato recipes.

Ten minute suppers for children - Poppy Fraser

We just got the Hairy Bikers Diet book and forgetting it's a diet book, we will do at least 75% of the recipes and the ones we've made so far have been excellent

ShowMePotatoSalad · 30/12/2016 17:11

I know it's not a recipe book as such but have you been on www.food.com? It's all user-uploaded recipes, and it has thousands of users so there are photographs of the finished product, and for popular recipes there are literally hundreds of reviews from people who have tried it and made adjustments for various reasons, including fussy eaters.

You can also filter recipes by ingredients.
